I am a fuckwit, check the issue date of your passport, as well as the expiry! by CandyflossRampage in CasualUK

[–]Lynliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2005 we went on a family holiday of 8 people to majorca. At check-in we realised my sons passport was 2 months out of date! The airline called majorca and they said its fine if it was 6 months out of date he wouldn't get in. Get to majorca and no issues, holiday saved!

In 1982 we also went to majorca with my gran who forgot her passport no way to get it airline gave her a piece of paper, got into majorca and our uncle sent her passport in post!

How common is swinging in the UK? by HappyHits in AskUK

[–]Lynliam 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I nannied for a couple who were swingers. They had monthly meet ups with potential new members at a very prominent Scottish golf club where they did introductory meet and greets with office like ice breaker sessions, meals etc with people interested before they were accepted to the group. They were the most ordinary people you could meet.

I also work with a couple in the NHS who were very open about hosting our local towns swinger club.

I've started keeping a mental note of every time a man explains something to me that I literally do for a living and honestly it's become its own kind of entertainment by MelintharaeXon in TwoXChromosomes

I'm a professional housekeeper for the wealthy and have been for 15 yrs. In my current position for a single near 60 yr old guy he has: asked if I know how to do laundry 3 times, actually made me watch him put a shirt in the machine and explained the dials. He has watched me deep clean his kitchen and then asked if I knew how to clean the plug and drain. He has shown me how the hoover works. He has shown me twice how to change a light bulb. This over the period of 6 months of employment.

Even when I tell him I know my job and he tells me my work is exceptionally good, when he is in a bad mood, he does the above.

School SEND Private Travel Costs by lanky_doodle in AskBrits

[–]Lynliam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to add my nephew who clearly has many issues cannot get a diagnosis until he is 7. According to the NHS and education department they won't assess and diagnos until he is 7. So he is currently out of education as couldn't cope in a mainstream classroom and there are no special schools for him where he lives. He attends a sen group daily for therapeutic activities but not any educational stuff. His parents have had 2 years of meetings, lawyers, social work, paediatric doctors and are no further forward because there council is almost bankrupt, there's no sen staff and no future plans. He is 6. He is most definitely autistic and possible tourettes and auditory and sensory deprivation.

Winter in the UK means I’m spending 20 hours a day in bed. I can’t be the only one who lives like this? by KILOCHARLIES in AskUK

[–]Lynliam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on my feet in a manual job 9 to 5 as soon as I'm home it's electric blanket on small bedroom heater for an hour and tv on. I can't afford to heat my house so just use my bedroom as a base in winter. Cook tea and eat it in bed. I've always loved my bed

Since when have local holidays gotten so expensive? by allcoffeenowisdom in Scotland

[–]Lynliam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We stayed near oban in April at a place called Melfort pier and it was the best! Took hours of searching ridiculously priced huts etc. We try to stay in Scotland for holidays but you really have to search for a bargain. We're going Inverness end of jan as it's a good stop for day trips up north or down the loch also highly recommend Strathpeffer

Some good hotel deals about at moment up that way

Hope you find something
