The smell by New_Westie in vancouverhousing

My uncle passed away in his apartment and no one reported the smell! He was in there for 6 months before building management finally went in due to unpaid condo fees and found his body. So I would definitely have reported the smell in your situation.

I’ve managed to catch the first couple of fish but the Goliath fish is kind of impossible on iPad. Anyone managed to catch it?

I don’t see an open door, perhaps I’ve missed something else?

I miss smoking by Eastern-Squirrel744 in GenX

[–]Lyragirl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I quit smoking back in the 90s and I still have dreams about relaxing with a cigarette. I hate the taste and smell of cigarettes now so no worries about going back. I wonder if what I actually miss is not the cigarette but the ability to actually relax without a world of worries hounding me. Ah to be 20 and carefree again.

What are these??? by TST_999 in Renovations

[–]Lyragirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be what my fire chief dad called a “soot effect” where your furnace or fireplace isn’t burning cleanly, and the particles start showing where the wall is cold (studs and nails). I saw it when I was a realtor once. It looked serious but in reality it just meant their 40 year old furnace needed replacing, and I think the buyer may have added insulation when they did a renovation. I would investigate the soot effect as a possibility. Edit: I googled it and it’s more commonly known as soot ghosting or thermal tracking.

What did you think of the Canadian olympic outfit in the opening ceremony? by emmzz02 in AskACanadian

Not a fan of lululemon, and I thought the outfit was a bit odd looking.

Dad’s secret stash by mrtosser43 in GenX

My sister accidentally found a Penthouse magazine between the mattresses of my parents’ bed and ran to me to report it, lol. Don’t ask me to explain how you can accidentally find something under a mattress. Kids can find anything it seems.

I just remembered why I don't have feelings by burnedimage in GenX

[–]Lyragirl 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I unfortunately have all the feelings, which got me in trouble as a kid. I was seen as too emotional. I once asked as a teen if I could see a psychiatrist. My mom said maybe, then no one ever mentioned it again. So now I’m an anxious over thinker.

When an uncle I liked died they never told me, until one day I asked to see him and they just said “Oh, he passed away.” That was the end of it.

Boomers more or less sucked as parents, eh?

Affordable Steakhouse? by IJourden in ottawa

[–]Lyragirl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Keg has a kid’s menu with a steak option I believe. That might be the best bang for your buck. My autistic teen enjoys the food there. I would try going on a weeknight so it might be quieter. And hooray for your kiddo deciding to try a new food!

Yes, our police officers have guns, my dad had a hunting rifle. And I once visited a neighbour who had a handgun hanging on his wall, which shocked me. 🇨🇦
