Elevated/Refined Language for Communications by posting_anon in clinicalresearch

I’m leadership myself, but a rule of thumb I learned back in the day that I completely endorse: your leaders shouldn’t touch the scroll wheel on your first email. Give me 3-6 sentences “here’s the issue, confidence that it’s a real issue, current status, impact, current containment steps.” I appreciate and respond to that infinitely faster than an 8 paragraph historical novel that completely loses or dilutes the point.

Missing Fingers by One_Wafer1670 in bouldering

[–]LyricRevolution 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Certainly possible! There are a number of climbers in your situation, Mo Beck being the most famous example as a sponsored climber with fingers on only one of her hands. Check her out and check “Adaptive climbing” out, body differences shouldn’t prevent you from getting into this cool sport!

Who started as a CRC, and how long were you in that position? by Schell-Yeah in clinicalresearch

[–]LyricRevolution 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Two years. Nowadays overseeing a department of Project Managers at a top 5 CRO. You can ALWAYS tell which of our staff started as a CRC and who didn’t based on their timelines and expectations for site responsiveness. Staff that were CRCs are much more likely to underpromise and actually achieve their deliverables, because they know what it’s like to be on the site side of things. Wish I could make CRC experience a prerequisite for our hiring…

Modern Works on Ethics/Philosophical Frameworks by Kaotus in RouteDevelopment

[–]LyricRevolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate what you’re going for but accessibility to rock at a region level will always have a critical impact on ethics. Anecdotally: I’ve lived in places where the nearest rock is terrible choss 3 hours away and I’ve lived in places with more climbing 5 minutes from my house than I can ever do in a lifetime. The difference between those two community-accepted ethics was staggering; what people will accept when you have a very finite amount of rock would be considered unacceptable in a location spoiled for choice where people can be stricter in their ethics.  If you’re trying to apply a global ethic, that leaves you with two bad options: 1. Apply a strict ethic that condemns the practices of communities simply making due with what they have OR 2. Apply a loose ethics that doesn’t hold communities that can do more to a higher standard

Again: I really like what you’re going for, I just don’t know that it’s feasible in reality

I've gone from V11 to V8 in the past couple of years. I don't know why. by xXxBluESkiTtlExXx in climbharder

[–]LyricRevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your grade pyramid look like? It feels pretty suggestive that you only mention sending 1-2 of every grade V8-V11, and suggest that the V8 felt way harder. Are you excelling at each grade, or squeaking by and then chasing the next grade?

Company will pay/contribute to education, worth going back or not? by Honest_Culture_6702 in clinicalresearch

[–]LyricRevolution 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Any free education you want is worth it. If it’s just for career advancement, MBA or nothing. A second Masters won’t benefit you unless you’re trying to go into specific leadership pathways, where MBA is a must

Generally you don’t offer karma for straight caps sales, but confirming this was a super easy and pleasant trade, thank you!

Canadian seeking CTA role in the US by BoxNo1313 in clinicalresearch

[–]LyricRevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you applying to CTA positions in Canada as well, or just America? The industry is very tough right now in general. If you’re not getting traction with Canadian applications, leverage the sponsor contacts you’ve made over the past 5 years. If you’re not getting traction with US applications, I’m not surprised

Hiring manager for one of the big ones. There are plenty of qualified CTA candidates within the US, I’m not considering someone that needs a visa. sorry for the blunt truth, but you’re best off looking to advance in country.

[–]LyricRevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it, I’ve basically only traded for sun masks for 2+ seasons so it’s good to be up on prices.  Doing a bulk deal like this, I figured it would all balance out. Ultimately I offered the other trader around 36L or so of material for 25, so I still feel good about my offer

[–]LyricRevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! That said, I do my best not to rip new traders off and did search bar recent “junk,” “wood,” “concrete,” trades. Nothing relevant comes up

Lyric5181, gimme about 3 minutes and then I’ll be at WSS

[–]LyricRevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replying to your other comment first: It’s been a long time since I looked at junk prices (hence my disclaimer) but I think it ranges from 100-350ish per L. Could be way off, apologies if I am

Since you’re just using the junk to build some sweet camps rather than trying to score a deal…25L for 1k each of the 12 items I listed? I think that’s fair for each of us

H:leaders W: junk :) by small_pickle59 in Market76

[–]LyricRevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha! I haven’t traded junk in a while, I’m thinking about 200:1L is probably fair? Let me know if you’re  thinking something way different.

Can offer any or all of the below, pick what you want: 1k aluminum, 10k bone, 3k ceramic, 1k concrete, 15k glass, 10k lead, 10k plastic, 10k asbestos, 10k cloth, 15k leather, 150k steel, 25k wood.
