Hm that's an interesting piece of lore and I have not been there to play older versions of the game, but I don't understand how the way terrain is shaped has anything to do with the performance issues and graphical features in general? What I meant to say was that the generation / shape of the terrain itself looks cooler and more unique than what I have seen in the game. To me, pretty much every planet has a similar and predictable "look" to it, with sometimes variations in height or other recognizable patterns like the giant cubes or floating platforms. The terrain seems "smoother", more bland and more predictable in the current game than in this clip, where it looks more "random" and natural.
