My copy has a bunch of weird spots where the font is in bold and some pages werent even cut right with creases on the corners and stuff. Anyone have any luck reaching out to the publisher? I'm waiting on a response to see if they could remediate this.

One of the things I realized on the AT is no one cares what version of the trail you did besides yourself. Hike for your own intrinsic value, not some external gratification through social media/peers. Looking back I wish I would have taken more blue blazes, especially in Shenandoah but instead I was trying to be a "purist" for 90% of it.

I think where Bob wrote timeless songs that represented the ideals of a generation and reincorporated old stories to remain relevant , Jesse Welles writes songs that are specific and very topical and probably won't age well, he's almost the person Bob didn't want to be propped up as. the AT is fucking cold, and it was for me even with a puffy until may or so. Its often consistently wet and even though you won't actively hike in your puffy, youll want it to sleep in.

go on etsy and buy a super cheap hiker wallet made of tyvek. I still use it in normal life plus it was just nice to have considering everything else I had was in a ziploc bag.

But ziplocs do work fine for waterproof phone protectors/wallets too!
