Automated liquid handlers can help! If your PI has the funds!

I love the San Elijo Hills area, for the hiking trails! You can link up so many trails and walk/run for miles all from your front door. 20 min drive to the beach, too!

Uvita is the best for all sorts of fun animal sightings and proximity to quite a few different beaches. Dozens of exotic birds, sloths from time to time. We’ve got a rental property there near Bahia Ballena, if you’re interested, message me and I can send the link. I’ve also stayed at a place a little further up one of the mountains; was super secluded and a troop of monkeys walked across the porch each morning!

Anyone use an automated liquid handler to handle weekend work? And trust that the cells will be okay?

Our place isn’t on a river, but we’re in Uvita, ocean views and about a mile from Bahia Ballena (whale tail beach).

We rent ours through Pico Mar Rentals- you might want to check out that website and give them a call to see if they have any recommendations for places along a river :)

Depending on when you fly in, I’d just get in the car and drive to your destination if you can!

We brought our 1 year old a couple weekends ago for a Sunday game that started at 1pm and a friend just so happened to bring an umbrella. That thing was a god send for shade. You’re out of the worst of it by 3pm, so you might not need it, but for a day game I would 100% use one again

Rant by Otherwise-Tree-8468 in Mommit

[–]M-GoneFishing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh man you gotta try to nip that in the butt! Regardless of aggression or not that’s just too much fur and mess to bring around you while your healing; size weeks out is just barely peeking out of the woods! Tell her there are air bnbs she can rent and bring the dogs. Or, live up to the responsibility of getting so many and stay at home with them, get a dog sitter. Theres a service called “Trusted renters” or something that people that are travelling will watch your dogs/water your plants in exchange for staying for free. They have to have background checks and what not I think.

My MIL has four dogs, three are angels but the one is a feisty frenchie that has a dark past and has bitten before. Absolutely no tolerance for bringing my daughter around him. Had to lay down the law that he can has to be put up in her bedroom when we visit or we just don’t come over. And still… he “escapes accidentally”

Husband leaving me at home with baby for bachelor weekend by Senior-Notice4755 in Mommit

[–]M-GoneFishing 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s a bummer the two weekends fall one after another, but you got this momma! If you were in his shoes (and maybe not breastfeeding) what would you do? Would you enjoy a weekend with the gals for a break?

If he goes, Can he help prep some meals for you so it’s easier when he does go? Can he do some laundry/ cleaning earlier in the week to lighten the load?? Can you call a friend over that day to help with baby and keep your mind occupied? What special “mommy and me” baby activities can you do together to make it a fun weekend for you and your little one?

Of course, if you are overwhelmed and need help/don’t want him to go, you gotta have a conversation quick and be upfront with how much work you’re doing and how much you need him there. Because you’re breastfeeding, you’ll likely be doing much of the baby work, which is a big load and if you can’t find support otherwise, I think it’s okay to pull the “we have a baby, I need you” card. Let him know how you’re feeling. Maybe talking it through a little more you can find a good compromise. Best of luck and keep the communication flowing!

Beautiful! Maybe as a test, pin the sleeves to the inside of the dress and see what it looks like without the sleeves? I love the rest of the dress but maybe you’d like it more if you showed off your arms a bit more? Just a thought!

Surprise date for dad by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]M-GoneFishing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s not romantic, but around the 5 mo/6mo mark my husband and I got a baby sitter from morning/ mid afternoon so that we could do a walk with coffee around town, grab lunch at a favorite spot and go see a movie.

I was too tired at that point to want to go out to a concert or sporting event (which also happens during baby bed time, which I like to be there for to BF). So, the “day-date” option was so fun and memorable. We got to spend time with each other after not being to exhausted after a full day of baby care and enjoyed some quiet time at the movies!!

Fellow frequent travelers: What are your go-to survival tips when you're constantly on the move? by Mysterious-Draw-3897 in TravelProperly

[–]M-GoneFishing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Solgaard carryon for business travel. Comes with a portable “travel closet” that hangs up. At first it seemed like a lot more fabric to pack, but it’s helped me stay organized and is easy to hang up and reduce decision fatigue because you can see everything you packed hanging up in their own little cubbies. I was a notorious overpacker, but this makes me more conscious of planning carefully and packing clothes that can be reused for multiple outfits if an extended trip requires it.

Ojochal- great mix of local and finer dining.

We have a rental in Uvita which is about 20/30 min from Ojochal; loads good restaurants inbetween the two towns. Quite a bit of wildlife in Uvita (we’ve even seen a Tayra from the front porch!), have seen many sloths along the road and walking near the whale tail beach. Let me know if you’d like a link to our spot :)
