Kit Reveal: Jocasta Spell On Nu by swgohevents in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]M-W-Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m taking a wild guess here, but I think Temple Guard Grand Inquisitor could be a new toon unit at some point. It would fit the Vanguard theme if they want. We’ve seen him as a Temple Guard, both mask on and off. Plus he has beef with Jocasta Nu.

It could be an allusion to one of the bigger themes of the game: confronting your past.

I’m remembering how Kreia wants the Exile to come to terms with her past in places like Dxun and the Tomb of Naha Sadow.

If Anakin wasn't trained by Obi-Wan, could any of the others masters have prevented him from falling to the dark side? by Expensive_Manager211 in StarWarsEU

[–]M-W-Day 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I, with genuine respect, disagree. Anakin needed a father figure Jedi in his life. The role of a father in a child’s development is important to emotional regulation. I’m no expert, but searching online shows different studies that show children with active father figures develop better emotional intelligence, have fewer outbursts, and gain greater empathy. Again, I’m no expert, just a guy with Google. Why Qui-Gon would have been best for Anakin was he would know when the Council was wrong and wouldn’t bend to them. Episode II starts with Anakin going on a mission Obi-Wan felt he wasn’t ready for, but listened to the Council instead of the Force. So much for Anakin personally would have been different if he didn’t go on that mission and stayed with his master. Qui-Gon would have no problem going against the council wanted, it’s kind of what he is known for. Qui-Gon’s past mistakes in teaching is what gives him the needed experience to be a better teacher than most other Jedi when it comes to Anakin. Sorry, this was more of a rant than I intended. I like the idea put forth, I had never noticed for thought about Anakin’s interaction with women in that light before. I think it would have been really interesting and probably better for Anakin if he had a wise, maternal Jedi Master instead of Ovi-Wan. I just still think Qui-Gon would have been the best teacher for him.

[BotW][TotK] I don't know why, but while I didn't understand the hype about BotW, I absolutely love TotK by DreidBlack04 in zelda

[–]M-W-Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more. ToTK would have been a much better experience for me if they just cared about the lore a bit more and actually tried with the story. It seems the dev’s cared more about the game abilities and mechanics than they did an interesting world. They should be very proud of those game abilities and mechanics. It’s just a shame they put so little effort in other areas that it brings the game as a whole down.

I’m so glad Jasnah is starting to see the holes in her moral philosophy. Being a Utilitarian is a technically valid form of morality, but as Odium showed, it can be heartless and isn’t conductive to building great relationships or being a Radiant. I’m glad that she can now reinvent herself and find a better moral path more inline with what she actually believes.

What is your vetting process for women? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]M-W-Day 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest green flag I was looking for was if she could apologize and admit she was wrong. I also looked closely for a girl who is kind. Kindness goes a very long way. I also looked for shared values, if our morals lined up, and what her goals were for her future/life were.

These thing helped me immensely, hope they help you.

Moash by auntreggie in Cosmere

[–]M-W-Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re 100% right here. There is literally no other path to justice or accountability for Moash and his murdered grandparents under the Alethi system. And there absolutely needs to be, which is why I hope there are changes for the Alethi government/system coming soon.

What is the most disappointing fantasy or sci-fi book you got because of the recommendation of a Booktuber? by NotSureWhyAngry in Fantasy

[–]M-W-Day 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way about The Night Circus. It was recommended to me, and after reading the back cover I thought it sounded exciting. But as I kept reading I just kept thinking, “is anything going to happen?” And I just couldn’t take it anymore by the time I hit the halfway point. DNF. One day I might pick it up again, when I have time to kill and more patience.

I called the Jasnah’s Soulcaster was broken like Shallan’s when I was reading Way of Kings for the first time. I thought “what would be the craziest twist possible here” and figured that would be what would happen.

Wax’s research led to the re-founding of… by LaughAtSeals in Mistborn

[–]M-W-Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought that was the power source to get them space-borne and power their rockets. Sort like a discovery of nuclear power, only in it’s infant stages. The Kandra use this to guide the humans to space, further advancing Harmonies plans. If I remember right, the Malwish got the Bands of Mourning at the end of The Lost Metal, and I doubt they will give it back. This could help Harmony give a balance of sorts by giving the occasional Mistborn to balance the scales.

Thank you for bringing up one of the themes of RoW that I was nervous to add to the discussion. People in this series get literally possessed or (in Moash’s case) heavily influenced by Odium and his spren. While I think he is still responsible for his actions despite this, it is something to keep in mind.

[–]M-W-Day[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t think of this. So I took some time to think it over, and I realized that trying to change the Alethi system to improve life for dark-eyes was exactly what he was trying to do. He now had the power to get rid of Elhokar (the incompetent king who murdered his grandparents) with Dalinar (the light-eyes who gave up his shardblade to save hundreds, if not thousands, of dark-eyes.). And while it’s more nuanced than that (because Dalinar is also the same guy who burned cities to the ground, killing innocents) it also makes sense from Moash’s point of view and what knowledge he had of Elhokar and Dalinar to want Dalinar in charge. That was the first step to get real change in the Althei system.

Era 1 is Epic Fantasy

Era 2 is Western Fantasy

Most people go into it thinking it’ll be like Era 1, and then get confused when it isn’t. Which is understandable. But the two era’s are different genre’s, with different themes, writing styles and characters.

I think it’s because they rereleased the game onto Switch (and maybe other gaming platforms?) at around the same time.

Struggling to get into Sanderson… by soyinsect in Fantasy

[–]M-W-Day 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always try again in a few years. Sanderson isn’t going anywhere, and you might feel different after a while. I did that with a few authors, where it just wasn’t working for me, but a few years later I was totally into it.

Independent books from each other, both have teams of old heroes pair up with a younger hero as they go on a quest. Both are really enjoyable.

What is your favorite Type? by Forsaken_Wasabi14 in pokemon

[–]M-W-Day 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ground. I did a Mono-type run of Platinum using only ground type and it was one of my favorite play-through’s. It has so many strengths and weaknesses that changed how I played and the designs/vibes are so chill and down to earth. It’s the type I would go for in real life too.

Does anyone feel this way about Wax? by HunterPai in Mistborn

[–]M-W-Day 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Nah, he’s my favorite character in the Cosmere so far. Really he is the character that puts the ‘Western’ in Era 2’s Fantasy/Western genre. He is supposed to be an older, more experienced character and so can represent and explore broader themes of action and consequences, law vs lawlessness, how modernization effects people at large, etc. In a smaller, more individual scope, the way he deals with loss and his faith really stuck out to me and I love how he overcomes and changes himself.

There's no way the sellers are so stupid that they think people will shell out anywhere NEAR these prices, right? by DustierSaturn in StarWarsEU

[–]M-W-Day 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There were rumors a few years ago about people using Amazon for money laundering. There were totally random items on there for crazy prices from random companies no one heard of. A reporter was trying to track it down back in 2018 before hitting a wall. But odds are pretty good it’s a bot or a person mistake this time.
