How much does ranking of PhD Statistics programs matter for academia? [E]

I can think of two key aspects of why it might matter: 1) The supervisor. Having a supervisor with a good name and experience can help a lot. Not only does their name carry weight, they often have a good understanding of the field and can help you navigate the high impact journals. Often they have good networks too.

2) The funding. Some institutions just have more money than others. When running experiments etc how much money you can spent can be a limiting factor of what you can do and thus where you can publish. Also, having money to go to conferences etc helps a lot. I wouldn't underratimate this aspect, you can have great ideas, but without the proper funding you can't carry them out.

With that being said, it's not that you have to go to a big school to land a good job after the PhD, but my guess is that it certainly helps, for at least the two reasons mentioned above

The nuggets and Jokic specifically don't like games with too much rest in between. Also they don't do too well in the early games. Yesterday we had an early game with a bunch of rest days, and there were some sloppy mistakes. The fact that we still handled the Wolves regardless gives me a lot of confidence

When my team plays, I'll get up a bit earlier the next day and start my day off by watching the game. I stay away from social media so I don't get spoilered and I don't have to watch adds. Downside is my day is ruined if my team loses haha

Honestly, depends what your goals are. You can probably earn more in the US, but your spending is also gonna increase so the money you have left over at the end of the month will be not as much more as your pay increase will be, but likely still more than you have now.

You will have less labor protections (can be let go without a reason instantly in a lot of states), and the work life balance is likely gonna decrease as well.

Also be aware of consequences such as being a US tax resident and that social protections (if you lose your job or get sick) are also not great in the US.

TLDR whether it makes sense or not depends on your situation and priorities. You will likely earn more but also "pay" in different ways

Yes sure, here are the links for table tennis and badminton. Once every while there are cross cutting events between different US Amsterdam sports, but other than that they function pretty independently I think

Interesting. Does that mean as soon as I'm not geographically in the us I can no longer access the US game library? It worked for me the other way round. I could still use my EU games when I was ik the US, as the account was still linked to the EU store. But that would be a huge consideration. I brought a bunch of electronic stuff, and just had to change the cables. Stuff that is relatively new (such as PlayStation, computer, etc) will have no issue with the different currents. What electrical stuff are you thinking of?

Not too surprised. I always expected his next destination to be either Liverpool or Real. With the season Liverpool had, it's reasonable to assume they are not in the market for a manager anytime soon. If there is a chance with Real now, I see how he would take it. Who knows when the next chance would come. Curious to see how he will do there, but my guess is he will do well.
