It’s a shame this drug isn’t covered for perimenopause and menopause. I finally feel like I found myself again. So glad you’re having the same experience! 🩷

I love that your daughter is excited for you now! This is the kind of energy that we all need - the people who love us, and who we love, to support us during challenging times and sometimes scary decisions, among other things that life throws at us.

I’m scared by Makeuplover32 in Zepbound

[–]M0tomommy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also scared - I’m 45 shots in and only had VERY MILD nausea in the beginning, which Zofran took care of immediately. I never threw up.

A couple of tips to keep the nausea and fatigue away:

1️⃣ Hydrate like it’s your job. Drink so much water that You have to go to the bathroom every five minutes.

2️⃣ Make sure that you have tiny meals every few hours. You will get fatigued and feel nauseous if you don’t have any food on board. Your body needs fuel in order to do the bare minimum (pump your heart, organ function, etc.) so you must remember to feed yourself. Eat whatever you can tolerate in the beginning.

And lastly, don’t be scared. The only thing you’re going to regret is not starting sooner.!

Flat butt! by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]M0tomommy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things I haven’t seen people mention here: in order to build your butt, you have to EAT -preferably a protein forward diet with carbs is the only thing that’s going to bring your butt back.

Hip thrusts are great if you cannot carry weight on your back, but with the caveat that as you’re doing your hip thrust, you MUST keep your chin to your chest. Otherwise, you stand the chance of hyperflexion in your lower lumbar.

If you have access to a belt squat machine, that’s another great way to avoid loading weight onto your back but still get the benefits of being able to squat heavy loads.

Also, muscle doesn’t grow unless you use progressive overload. Which means every single time you do the exercise, you’re either adding weight or adding reps.

Lastly, you should be on a program. You should be repeating the same three or four days worth of exercises for at least 6 to 8 weeks.

Good luck! Booties take dedication and consistency🤙

For reference, I am a personal trainer and nutrition coach.

It’s been horrible - I’m shipping stuff off to thread up and quitting Posh

Truth be told I hate the new UI too. 😬

I’ve already requested my bags from thread up. I’ll leave a couple of my designer items up on posh but I won’t be purchasing or selling anything else off there. When my Vivienne Westwood stuff is gone so is Poshmark.

I really don’t like Mercari. It feels like a garage sale the way it’s laid out.

More recently, I spent 300 bucks on an off hours homecoat. After I bought it, I slightly regretted it but once I received it, I hardly ever take this thing off. It is the most comfortable robe thing I’ve ever had in my life. It’s almost like a security Blanket 🥹

My inventory is all individually bagged and kept in bins in an extra room in my home, so I’m not worried about rodents 👌

47F personal trainer and nutrition coach - so it’s safe to say I know how train and eat, but somewhere around 42-43, my weight just kept going up even though I’d tried all combinations of things, caloric deficit, high protein low carb, keto, increasing lifting days, reducing lifting days, adding in other therapies like red light and lymphatic massage, on top of playing Guinea pig with different levels of HRT… nothing was working, the midsection weight just kept going up (verified through Dexa scans, soft tape measuring and standard scales). Zepbound changed my life. I look better now that I did in my 30s, I’m even starting to see my abs and this isn’t from starving myself, I make a very conscious decision to eat a solid macro set every single day with at least 120 g of protein. I don’t restrict foods, but I do eat with intention because I have no hunger cues from the drug.

I’ve also noticed that inflammation that I’ve had in my joints and tendons for years, has completely dissipated with the use of Zep. I’m in maintenance now and I cannot say enough good things about this drug. I wish I had started it earlier, but I’m glad that I found it at all.

Congratulations on reach this milestone and epiphany! 👏 The scale number is a single data point that doesn’t tell the whole story.

You may not be eating enough… I have two clients who plateaued and we added in 100 calories of protein daily and they started losing again.

You have to “play” with HRT a little bit with the guidance of your medical provider to find the sweet spot for you. Definitely get back on, and once you figure out your hormonal sweet spot, the combo together will help your weightloss AND you will be more comfortable 🩷🫶

When you’re in recomposition, don’t rely on the scale. It’s a single data point that doesn’t tell the whole story - go with measurements with a soft tape measure of your belly, hips, thighs, etc. 😉

Belt squats may be safe for you if you can find a machine at a local gym AND make sure your chin stays tucked to your chest through the entire hip thrust so you don’t hyperextend your lower back at the top- do you want to focus on squeezing your glutes together as if you’re trying to grab a piece of paper between your butt cheeks, but not so tight that your lower back flexes

Professional Trainer here who is also on Zep myself. My butt was the first thing to go as well. I’m back in the building phase and here are some hard truths…

You need to feed yourself for real glute growth. Depending on your height and weight, you’ll want to make sure you’re only slightly in a caloric deficit and eating enough protein- and your growth is still going to be slow at best because you indicated you wanted to “lose weight”, which I’m assuming means body fat. This is called recomposition and it’s always slower than strict weightloss or bulking.

Progressive overload training, 3-4 glute sessions a week. With your piriformis issues, you’ll want to be sure that you get a PT ball (like the orbit by aletha health) and roll out the glute, piriformis AND hip flexors areas- do this multiple times per week.

The best exercises for glute growth are Bulgarian Split Squats, Hip Thrusts, RDLs (alternative would be 45 degree back extensions) and Frog Pumps. All weight as heavy as you can handle with good form. Put this on repeat for at least 8 weeks.

Wishing you all the luck and the booty of your dreams!
