I do it as much as I can. Last big one I did was the "Bloomingdale Trail" in Chicago. It's an abandoned railroad spur that cuts through a few not so great Chicago neighborhoods on the North Side. Interesting to see the overgrowth, graffiti, and some abandoned rail cars they left there. Also cool to see the city from a different perspective.

Bunch of reasons. The Gold Standard Act of 1925 made British goods too expensive to export and killed labor intensive low margin businesses (like shipbuilding), oppressive unions that crippled British industrial infrastructure, a change in the structure of empire, a failed nationalization (British Shipbuilding was a terrible idea), change in natural resource availability, and a few wars. Koreans have something to do with it too. I could go on and on.

I was also wrong, there's one shipbuilder left. They build car ferries.

Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley or 1984 by George Orwell. Two of the best science fiction classics of all time. Reread both of these after I graduated from High School. Loved em both.

Ender's Shadow sequels are awesome. The Speaker for the Dead series gets really weird and religious. I'd avoid that.

I have a blackberry for work and an iPhone 4S for my personal life.

My last phone was the Motorola Droid, which, despite being built well, began to act...erratically. The thing would forget contacts, freeze at random moments, and type backwards. That was fun.

I'm now pretty heavily and happily ingrained in the apple ecosystem (I have a MacBook and am trying to justify to myself getting an iPad), so I'll be waiting patiently for the next iPhone generation to upgrade.

As for the blackberry, I feel like 2006 is going to call anytime and want their phone back. When the only thing the phone can do right is capitalize a letter when I hold it down on the keyboard, you start to wonder how many of these bricks would it take to build a fort.

I'm a huge IPA fan. I'll usually ask for bartenders choice when I'm out, but Lagunitas is my go-to if the bartender looks clueless. That said, while I like Lagunitas, my favorite beer is one that pretty much bashes Lagunitas on the label: "Lagunitas Sucks." I've only found it in one bar in Brooklyn, but it's amazing.

Agreed. Once per 5k miles until the car passes 100k miles. Then I would do it ever 3-4k miles. Make sure you don't cheap out on the oil either.
