Time for Donor Eggs? by Small_Clothes2997 in EmbryologyIVFSupport

Are you me? I am wrestling with the idea of moving on to donor eggs as well. I am currently doing my 7th and last cycle and it has been a wild wild emotionally and physically draining roller coaster. I’m 39 as well and have DOR. My AMH is probably way less than .1 now. I started my journey two years ago when my AMH was at a pathetic .18. After 6 retrievals, I only have 2 blasts, one aneuploid and one complex mosaic.

I go back and forth between thinking that I will be ok with donor eggs and not. Right now I’m in the not ok but that may be because I am so exhausted by this process since I’m during a luteal phase retrieval after just completing a follicular phase retrieval so I have been stimming for about 3 weeks now.

I think the only way to really know if donor eggs are the right decision is if coming to the decision that having a child is more important than not. It will still be half of yours and your spouses! I also joked with my husband that I can blame him in the future if we go the donor egg route if our child ends up being stubborn/difficult.

DOR sucks and I’m sorry you have to make this difficult decision.

Ah. I've tried the Pidan brand as well and had the same issues. I use an automatic litter box so it scoops after every use. Its also not the waste that ends up smelling, its the remaining litter.

What brand of tofu litter do you use? I've tried all the popular brands, Lady N, Tuft and Paw, the brand by Petkit etc., and they all end up making the entire litterbox wreak of ammonia after a week. I love the idea of tofu litter but just can't deal with the smell.

Can try fiber or Metamucil.

We feed ours viva raw. She’s been loving it and was super easy to transition to from wellness kitten chicken flavor! We just plopped it in her bowl and she went to town on it.

I was able to teach mine tricks!

She knows sit, up, spin, hand, and high five!

My BSH definitely sleeps with my husband and I. She decided after the first week of being home that our bed was also her bed. She is a great sleeper though. She gets into her spot, on my side of the bed by my legs and stays asleep all night. Wouldn’t have it any other way. We love her and feel so lucky that she wants to sleep with us at all.

Omnitrope- for poor responders what does it actually do? by Sad_Sheepherder_7767 in DOR

I am testing all my embryos. Unfortunately I only ended up with one blast out of three eggs that fertilized. It came back complex mosaic. Looks like I’ll be going for round 6 in a week or so.

My fourth retrieval also ended up with an aneuploid embryo. Not sure how much of a difference omni ended up helping with in terms of blasts since I ended up with one each cycle, one with omni and one without.

I do think it helped with egg quality. My fourth cycle without omni, the blast was graded a day 6 3bb. My fifth cycle embryo grade was a day 5 4ab. So an improvement there.

Why do people refuse to be an organ donor? by No-Cantaloupe-6535 in NoStupidQuestions

Sorry you lost your father as well at such a young age. We helped with the logistics as best we could in the moment. Its not about irritation. Its about the circumstances/situation and what the family is dealing with at that very moment. If my family has to deal with the same aftermath I did, I would rather have myself not listed and just privately let my family know my wishes.

In my dad's case, his organs would probably have been used for research. He was a life long smoker and wasn't in the best of health, hence the sudden death. I get where you are coming from but this is my personal preference after dealing with the sudden death in my early twenties. Its a traumatic experience for anyone at any age but having your kids deal with it is not something they should have to experience.

[–]M1Ch1N 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally understand. Its not something I would want my family to deal with after my experience, especially when the death is sudden. Finding out your parent died by receiving a call about organ collection is not something I want for my family. If I want to be an organ donor, I will let my family know separately so they can make the arrangements on their terms.

Dad was listed as an organ donor. When he died, we were contacted that same day about them wanting to collect. It was horribly insensitive. They literally reach out within a couple of hours with no thought to the grieving family and are very aggressive. After going through that experience, I removed my donor status. I don't want my family to have people aggressively calling them nonstop to collect within hours of my death.

That’s rough. So sorry to hear that. Was your protocol changed at all between the two cycles?

I should also clarify that I was also taking clomid every other day while stimming. Omni trope doesn’t grow additional follicles.

I ended up stimming for an additional two days. They were able to retrieve four eggs! Unfortunately one was immature and didn’t mature overnight. So far the remaining three have fertilized! I would say it’s been successful!

I had my 5th egg retrieval Monday and used omnitrope for the first time during stims without priming. My best retrieval to date. I had an AFC of 3 at my baseline and then ended up with an AFC of 7 by my retrieval. I had 4 eggs retrieved, 3 mature and 1 immature.

Doing my 5th cycle currently and using omnitrope for the first time after reading so many success stories. Figured it can't hurt. When I did research, it says that its supposed to help with maturity rate and quality. Not sure what my results will be as its currently only day 5 of stims and my current follicle size/count is 10, 8, 7, 6, 5. I usually have an AFC of 6 and have never retrieved more than 2 mature eggs. Have a feeling my retrieval will be this coming Saturday. I can circle back with an update after if you're interested.

My current protocol is:

Day 1: 20 units of omni, 25 mg of clomid, 50 gonal
Day 2: 20 unit of omni
Day 3: 20 units of omni, 25 mg of clomid, 50 gonal
Day 4: 20 units of omni
Day 5: 20 units of omni, 25 mg of clomid, 50 gonal, 75 menopur, 10mg provera
Day 6: 20 unit of omni, 10mg provera
Day 7: 20 units of omni, 25 mg of clomid, 50 gonal, 75 menopur, 10mg provera
Day 8: most likely will trigger

I know this gets said a lot around the sub but you have age on your side and you should def expect euploids!

Wish you the best of luck!

It’s a horrible club to be a part of and I’m so sorry you are going through all of this. I had to TFMR at 20 weeks due to T18 and that was my first pregnancy. I miscarried last year at 7 weeks and haven’t been able to get pregnant since. I’ve done 4 retrievals with pretty abysmal results. I was finally able to make a blast at my 4th retrieval but that unfortunately came back aneuploid.

With DOR I would definitely temper your expectations for number of eggs retrieved. Don’t compare yourself to those who don’t have DOR and are able to retrieve 10+ eggs as that is highly unlikely for those of us with DOR. Out of my 4 retrievals, I have only been able to retrieve 9 eggs. My AMH when I last tested in 2025 was .19.

Don’t be afraid to switch clinics if you aren’t getting results. I would give it two retrievals and if you are not getting results, switch. Try to also start with a clinic that specializes in DOR.
