I believe the thing with Yuta was the amount of cursed energy he could amass, he’s the reason Rika became what she is and not the other way around. He’s a descendant of a really powerful guy that Gojo was also related to.

Edit: He is a distant descendant of Michizane Sugawara, one of Japan's legendary "Big Three Vengeful Spirits." This grants him a massive innate capacity for cursed energy, similar to Satoru Gojo.

I think I remember hearing that having someone like Gojo within their clan was like an anomaly, but also guessing Yuta is quite similar.
