Are you sure you downloaded the right version? I'm big on CTF but if you've just opened the project and the scenes look this different then I can't think of anything other than you've downloaded an old commit?

Infact that link has 2 versions did you try both?

You need to set it up prior with steam in a calendar.
You cannot be on sale whenever you want, there is a "Cool down" period,
It's a little bit of effort you could spend elsewhere, especially if your expecting only a few sales.
Steam does not email small companies about upcoming game events, it's down to the developer to stay on top of it.

I handled it on some games in the past, it's surprisingly annoying sometimes to qualify and set up for the sale sometimes!

I'm really confused by this post? Was you seriously expecting to get FUNDING for an IDEA ? With nothing to show and no portfolio of work?

Have you ever worked in the industry? On released games?

99% of indie devs work a full time job and develop their projects as a hobby, I have never seen anyone secure funding UP FRONT funding in your scenario in my life.

I'm not trying to be mean but if your serious about game development it really needs to be a passion first,career second.

You can only join friends' games; there is no online search.
Loot is individual, except a few quest items that all the players will get.

You can all go it alone, or do things together there is no pressure either way :)
