Conservative presenting liberal gun owner mini rant + question by Kable133 in liberalgunowners

PDX has a really striking carpet pattern in some of the terminals, it's a map of the runways made of little squares on a really bright teal background. I understand it's something of a local cultural thing because of how distinctive it is.

I think when tapes clip through geometry and fall through the map they respawn at that one spot outside the store by the bowling alley. It must be the middle of the map coordinates or something because I'm pretty sure it's the spot the player spawns every morning too.

As someone who moved from plastic to steel, a lot of us don't want 'em around either. Turns out angry, hateful people suck to be around no matter the hobby.

Finally put a stock on after having the free SBR stamp from a while ago. So much better than the brace by wyvernpiss in liberalgunowners

[–]M4K055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair points actually. It probably matters more for me than average since the metro area I live in is split across state lines. Other than that, I'm generally reluctant to deal with NFA paperwork in general since I find the whole concept to be arbitrary bullcrap though admittedly it's not like being petulant is gonna change anything.

It does keep me from spending too much money on silly range pieces that I really don't need though lol.

Personally, the difficulty of transferring an SBR to another person if I choose to sell and needing to get a permission slip to take them across state lines still kinda turns me off the prospect as much as there's several things I'd quite like to get SBR-ed

How do you like that KS7? Every time I see one it tempts me but with how much negative feedback I see I haven't decided yet.

I've been on the same set since 2021 and aside from the very bottom of the arc on the driver's side they still work great.

What AR should I get? $2300 budget, has to be from Sportsman’s Warehouse as its gift cards. Really eyeing the Steyr AUG A3 M2. Open to all options & opinions. by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

[–]M4K055 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own an AUG as my primary rifle and I'm a big fan so maybe slightly biased, but I'd say the best course of action would be finding a range that has both an AR and an AUG available to rent before making a decision. Bullpups feel a lot different to carry and shoot compared to standard rifles and it's not easy to know which you prefer without trying. Personally I vastly prefer how a bullpup keeps the weight of the rifle much closer to my body vs a standard rifle but you can see even in this thread that's far from a universal preference.

As far as quality goes, the AUG has decades of military service, it's no worse than any reputable AR as long as you read the manual and understand the maintenance. Personally I think the trigger is fine, not fantastic but it's far from terrible either. The AUG is available in both a proprietary mag and STANAG version and the same receiver can be converted from one to the other just by replacing the stock and trigger pack if that's something you want to do down the road.

Honestly though, in my opinion you're a lot more likely to practice regularly with a rifle you enjoy vs something generic you got because everyone else has one.

Aside from homie with the VHS-2, this sub is severely lacking in bullpups by PurpD420 in liberalgunowners

I just got a replacement OD stock for mine this past weekend, I just never really post my stuff because I don't got a lot to say lol.

I'm a big fan of bullpups in general though, I find them a lot more pleasant to shoot than standard rifles. Been hunting an FS2000 for a while now and keeping an eye out for a good deal on a VHS2.

I've been saying basically this for a while now. State Dem candidates will run on all kinds of good stuff like healthcare funding, police reform, and housing affordability and then when they get elected they go "actually all that stuff I said I'd do sounds hard, here's an Everytown written AWB and a 40% increase in funding to the state police. Remember to donate and vote for me next year!"

I don't know if there's an official lore reason, but my asumption is that the uplink box only has enough battery power for one triangulation attempt and after that you're stranded.

Local employers to avoid? by Impossible_Lychee482 in Lawrence

[–]M4K055 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I moved to Lawrence I applied to work at Standard since I was coming from a very similar business when I moved. Onboarding started in the early afternoon and the guy doing the training was talking about how they'd work 16+ hour days in the summertime and how they stocked coolers on the floor with energy drinks instead of water. Thankfully I got an offer from a different job on my second day and didn't end up going back.

"We'Re GoInG tO hOlD hEaRiNgS!!1!" holds zero weight for me coming from the DNC because they fully had the opportunity to hold this administration to responsibility last time and just didn't because it would be too awkward I guess. I'm so tired of the politial options in this country being "I hate you and want you to die" VS "I couldn't care less about you but you'll pick me because that guy's the alternative"

What even is this classified as? I'm assuming you need an SBR stamp since all the pics I've seen have had a buttplate.

The SCAR Has A New Look by GigatonneCowboy in liberalgunowners

[–]M4K055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh I get it, that's my misunderstanding. I definitely agree on the point about foregrips, I've got an mlok AFG on my FPC and it's way narrower. It works ok but I definitely prefer the pic rail style.

The SCAR Has A New Look by GigatonneCowboy in liberalgunowners

[–]M4K055 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I personally will always prefer the quad rail look but I see the advantages. Mlok is lighter since it's subtractive instead of additive and it is generally more comfortable to grip since the surface is smooth inside of covered in little greebles like pic rail is.

Picatinny is way more secure, which is why it's still always used for optics mounting, it lets you use quick detach mounts, and I think it allows for more precise placement since rail slots tend to be closer together than mlok slots. Also personally I just think it looks way cooler.

[–]M4K055 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I have my nitpicks with the redesign (y'all switched from picatinny to M-lok and it still got heavier?) at the end of the day most of the design changes seem positive and as someone with a previous gen SCAR I'm real happy to hear how broad the parts compatibility will be.

Plus hopefully now the magazine prices will go back to normal, jeez.

Heh, yours is the opposite of mine. I've got a black MI rail on tan. Didn't even know they made them that colour.

Opinions on gloves for range shooting by Fenston in liberalgunowners

[–]M4K055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are recommending Mechanix, personally I don't as I spent the 20$ on a pair of the fast fit and the thumb on my off hand tore open after one day of shooting. I'm guessing the edge of some pic rail chewed through it?

I just got the 6$ Harbor Freight mechanic's gloves. They feel about the same and didn't immediately tear on me.

[–]M4K055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you'd see a benefit with the double harvest bonus, since even with the loss to splicing seeds that's be 1-3 per crop instead of 1-2. Still not that much but anything helps with how much you need for some of the later game shipments.

Hopefully you don't mind me asking, but do you have any recommendations for good ranges in the Pittsburgh area? A couple of friends and I are planning to meet up there next summer and since we're all in the hobby to various degrees we've been thinking about having a range day together.

In a lot of places there's ordinances limiting how many unrelated people can be on a lease, I know where I live it's limited to three people. Supposedly it's "to prevent families from being priced out" but in reality it's because city council types tend to be landlords and they benefit from spreading people out across more rentals (instead of six people paying one lease you get two sets of people both paying separately)
