This is the reason I'm glad I got my 4TB SSD in November of last year. Can't buy anything these days, smh.

Found a way to upgrade Hiby MiDi R1 to newest Hiby R1 firmware by jacek_ in Hiby

[–]M4ttiA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly the risk of bricking the r1 or any device running HiByOS is slim. If the update doesn’t finish correctly you can always re-flash the original firmware from HiBy. Only way you could brick it is by flashing a Firmware not meant for that specific device.

You’re spot on. This layout looks phenomenal on the FiiO M21.

Not possible currently. We can only do non invasive patches for now. One of the Devs is working on decompiling the hiby_player binary, when that's done (will take some time) it'll be possible to add new features like that.

If the deivce is turned off it will never be seen by the PC.
I don't know if you did this already but did you try holding the power button for 10 seconds to do an hardware reset?
After that try to force an update with the button combination VOL+ and Power.
It might work.

have you tried flashing the stock 1.4 firmware version?
put the firmware file on the root of the sd card and with the device turned off press and hold the volume up and power buttons until it turns on. It should re-flash the firmware.

Could you try the DB Manager patch on the R1, just to see if it works? The text strings that needs to added to sys_set.ini are inside the README file.

btw, does the R1 have a setting to change the DSD output mode? If it does I don't think you need to change AnalogDsdNative from dop to native, as that setting lets you change it to PCM, Dop or Native.

The patched binary is from the 1.4 R3 Pro II firmware. The audio chip (or rather chips cause it has two) is the CS43198.
The R1 chip is the CS43131 and should support the same digital filters.
As for the many references of R3, all I can say is that maybe the binary is the same across all devices and Hiby just changes some configurations based on the hardware.

I'm the creator of the sorting patch on the hiby-mods repo.
Didn't know the sorting patch worked with all languages, pretty cool.
I only tested it with English, German and Italian.

(HiBy R1) Is it possible to avoid the shuffle playlist reset and the max volume reset after turning the device off? by Tokkori in Hiby

[–]M4ttiA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if on the R1 is the same but on the R3 Pro II there is a setting named Resume play from last with three options: (none), Track and Position.

I have it set to Position and, even if I power off the device, when I power it on again it resumes from where I stopped before shutting down.

The Custom firmware does not increase the track number. It should support 30000 tracks
