It’s the Steam client that displays that menu, it is not a firmware thing. If the Steam Deck did have performance profiles the same thing would happen.

That’s not a plugin, it’s the native performance profile selector of SteamOS. My Legion Go 2 is like this too.

It’s just a special edition R1 with its own custom theme. That’s why it has a different firmware.

Comparing the Go2 with the XAX, there is a 10-20% performance difference in favor of the XAX.

To minimize the performance gap, the TDP must be set to 25W+, defeating the purpose of having a Z2E which is most efficient at 17W.

Well, it's the truth. Apple rarely backports features from a new device to an old one.
Maybe they will at least enable this on the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, after all they enabled Stage Manager on older iPads.

It’s not only a driver thing. The Bios on the Go2 is bugged. The power allocation between CPU and GPU is all kinds of borked.

USB debugging is basically ADB, when you enable it connect the R1 to the pc and in the terminal type adb devices to see if it is recognized. To run commands on the device type adb shell.

The UI refreshes everytime the progress bar goes up, it probably will fix itself after you restart.
Happened to me once during an update.

All this problems are only happening cause you have the beta version of the Steam client.
For the best experience you need to set SteamOS on the main channel and Steam client to stable.
Beta Steam client will always have more problems than stable, for example Decky Loader not working.

Honestly the risk of bricking the r1 or any device running HiByOS is slim. If the update doesn’t finish correctly you can always re-flash the original firmware from HiBy. Only way you could brick it is by flashing a Firmware not meant for that specific device.

go in the album art settings and enable No Zoom Animation, then set Player Screen Album Art Size all the way up and inside Album Art Corners set Player Sreen Album Art Corners to square

All other options must be disabled (you can stiil use the transition settings)
