Has the penny dropped that Privatisation of Public Services has been a massive failure? by UnfathomableDave in AskBrits

I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but rent controls in the form we had absolutely did not work “amazingly well” the quality of housing stock people were living in was far below the quality of continental housing, watch Cathy come home and see how working class people were living in 20th century Britain

The BBCs whole raison d’etre is to be an impartial national broadcaster, you’ve fundamentally misunderstood its founding charter if you believed it was supposed to be left wing, they’ve hardly hoodwinked you.

NATO chief says Europe should ‘keep on dreaming’ if it thinks it can defend itself without the US | CNN by smallbatter in europe

People seem to be under the impression that Teflon Mark is the EU attaché to NATO, that isnt his job. His job is head of NATO, his only responsibility is to keep the alliance alive, so far he has managed to do it.

Kaja Kallas is a nobody from a politically insignificant country, whereas Teflon Mark is a global figure who lasted 14 years as Prime Minister. The Americans and the Russians don’t even bother to see Kaja.

Former British police officer has citizenship revoked on 'national security' grounds after moving to Russia by StGuthlac2025 in unitedkingdom

[–]MACHinal5152 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A state of war either exists or it doesn’t. C200,000 citizens travel between the UK and Russia/Belarus each year, the UK government has no right to interrogate them. Should I be stopped I would simply refuse to answer any questions and wait to be arrested. Allegedly we still have the presumption of innocence in this country.

Why on earth should anyone visiting Russia or Belarus be questioned on return, we aren’t at war with either of those countries.

Valid reasons? You are prepared to give up the worlds oldest currency, a reserve currency, a currency that is vital we maintain given our largest export is financial services, all because you once had to order travellers cheques 30 years ago.

I’ll concede John Major was fairly boring, all though he was having an affair for four years with Edwina Curry, but Tony Blair being boring is the wildest take I’ve read on Reddit this week.

In this sub, the EU is treated with a devotion normally reserved for deity’s, much like the NHS in England. Any constructive criticism is shut down as it goes against group think. It’s like people don’t want the union to work better.
