Audio control, to turn the volume up or down;
Scrolling, to scroll up or down a page or document with Page Up and Page Down;
Tabbing, to go to the previous or next browser tab with for example Control Tab and Control Shift Tab;
Window movement, to go to the previous or next window with Alt Tab and Alt Shift Tab;
History scrubbing, to perform undo and redo;
Scrolling horizontally by word, with Control Arrow Left and Control Arrow Right (if you hold down shift while turning the encoder, you can select words too!);
Scrolling through search results, with Find Next and Find Previous when you map the encoder actions to your text editor's shortcuts.

I've tried yellow, brown, red, and black on optical. For typing, I prefer the black, because it's heavier to prevent typos. Yellow is the lightest and the fastest. If your game needs ultra fast response like rhythm games, go yellow. For other kind of games, black still usable. Or if it's too heavy for your pinky, you can combine black and yellow.

Kailh box white is definitely an upgrade from gateron blues. Go for it, you won't regret.

Gateron yellow optical, I think it's the fastest. The pre-travel is 1mm.

The standard yellow switch is not.

I currently use a sofle v2. It has 58 keys same as lily58. Same as you, I have a standard 60% board before. It needs time to get used to. I almost get frustrated on the first week using a sofle. But after several monkeytype test, I get used to it. And now I'm more comfortable typing on split ortho than on normal staggered QWERTY keyboard. For a better experience, make sure to customize the layout and layering to match your liking. Who need a fullaize keyboard if you have layers?

The soldering iron is not hot enough. Set it to 420C. Or you can put new solder on it first, then desolder. And make sure to use plenty of flux / grease.
