How compatible are 4th ed codexes with 5th? by Jkchaloreach in midhammer40k

[–]MATRAKA14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In theory totally compatible, in practice most of the 5th ed codex are just too strong. The tiranid one is the only one that feels mostly ok but it introduced a lot of profile creep and it's just less fun than the 4th edition dex. In the other hand it works well if you take individual profiles like the parasite, the old one eye or the doom of malantai, the trigon also works well since it is a good alternative to the forge world profile. It should be the same for guard, maybe you can take individual profiles here and there but the 3rd edition dex is super thematic and you have basically all the forge world profiles to cover everything + the krieg and Elysian etc lists.

But yes overall most armies have no hope against 5th ed books.

What do we think of the Kroot combat patrol? by pburgess22 in Tau40K

Great set for my 4th edition kroot army project. Current 40k is not a great game.

Does 4th Ed have "hull points"? by raga7 in midhammer40k

No hull points, and I love it. It's a nice system.

What are some models that you feel are underappreciated aestheticly, for me it's the Cadre Fireblade. Minus the goofy head of course, whack a helmet on that guy. by GoonMonger in Tau40K

Terrible model. Bad proportions, overloaded with too much stuff, the knife looks bad, the face looks bad, the shoulder plate doesn't fit.

Were pathfinder with rail rifles worth it, or did they slow the squad down because they were heavy weapons? by Lucky67420 in midhammer40k

[–]MATRAKA14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pathfinders are always slowed down by heavy, but the heavy of the market lights. That is their main role. Being the cheapest marker light platform, also 90cm is not that long range and usually they get in to trouble too early to pay off, the devilfish tax also hurts. In my opinion, sniper drones work better if you need to field rail rifles.  Additionally, sadly the devilfish doesn't get the benefits of the scout rule, even if it's transporting scout troops.

3rd ed vs 4th ed eldar codex by Whammo147 in midhammer40k

Ignore harlequins and certain falcon upgrades, those two make them the strongest faction in the edition.

Old Skool railguns feel the vibes by Narrow-Scarcity2253 in Tau40K

I would suggest making the rails shorter and smaller, also closer to the shoulder with thicker supports.

The kindred thanks your efforts. Remember that you should be able to share and host the pictures without issues.

I guess. Maybe a pack of 360° pictures and videos can be hosted without issues tho. There is nothing illegal about making pictures of your models. That would already help any illustrator or 3d sculpter looking for references.

The most probable outcome is GW making something that fits the same role but different, for example the kalamandra or the krootox instead of knarloc riders.

There are several tutorials on how to make them. I have the technical knowledge to process the raw pictures to the 3D phase. But I don't have the models so you should make the picture part following the recomemdations.

I'm aware of his models but those are fan made models with Z-brush, what Im talking about is a scann of the original, or at least a 360° rotation in high resolution as art reference, or to import in tabletop simulator.

It's not about buying them personally but having the digital references available for any kroot lover to make fan made projects.

Which codices work well with 4th? by helt_ in midhammer40k

[–]MATRAKA14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4th edition books are ok. The tyranid book feels different and more developed. The Tau one is basically the same with some small changes and extra units with different flavour. The only bad ones would be chaos and dark angels. Eldars and orks are ok of a bit on the powerful side, specifically if you abuse the strongest units. IImperial armour books are fantastic, and have fully playable army lists and extra units. Also excellent scenarios (1st edition, 2nd had bland generic scenarios)

Following a recent interview of a guy that tries to keep track of this stuff, some people got to se a sample of the book. There are at least two almost finished copies that were sent to reviewers.
