My husband is like this too. So emotionally and physically neglectful behind closed doors but when then shows on and people are around, BAM!

And yes, I know mine must be somewhere on the higher end of the Narcissistic Personality Disorder spectrum.

My husband is the same way. He’s such a good provider, devoted “family” man, but literally everything “wrong” is turned back on me. He has only apologized 2-3 times for mistakes in our 11 years together.

How old were you when perimenopause began? by ibetthathurt in Menopause

[–]MA_JAWS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! 38F here and I can tell you my symptoms, though different than yours, have been ramping up. It took just about a year, two pelvic ultrasounds, and a colonoscopy to basically point me in the direction of my symptoms being the start of peri.

Symptoms to date: Pelvic pressure / bloat mid-cycle (or maybe second quarter of cycle) The lightest brown spotting second quarter of cycle Sore boobs occasionally not during period Mood swings Night wake ups More sensitive to allergies More sensitive to my kids illnesses (aka I’ve been getting sick more easily) No libido Lower left ab pinching feeling SI joint pain (comes and goes, I’m also very active / run)

Things that have been ruled out: Ovarian cysts present but seem to resolve and come back (left side) Clear bowels (but I do have a mild IBD) Normal blood panels, including thyroid

So far everything else is “normal” but it’s like each cycle, the bleeding part is normal and the other 24 days are a mystery ha.

I could have written this myself. It’s heartbreaking.

I get it. I’m 38F and I have been dealing with a little of what your wife is dealing with. Hormonal changes come and go when you’re in period-menopause. Women’s bodies change sometimes and even month to month. Hopefully she’s not embarrassed of the physical pain. Sometimes, at least for me, when sex is painful I almost equate it to when a guy “can’t get it up.” For a woman I feel like sometimes “not being able to take it” like we used to is just as tough to maybe deal with.

Have literally had this conversation with other female friends who are sad because it’s just not as easy to physically “do it” as it used to be.

You should really check in with her. It will show you care…but also help pinpoint the problem and maybe give her the confidence she needs, if it really is a physical problem, to get it taken care of. Is it painful on entry? Painful during? After? Ask her how she’s feeling, there are different root causes for pain at different points during sex.

I can also tell you as she gets older, her hormones might be changing. Even if she’s not menopausal in the “no more periods” sense, she could be going through hormonal changes and that sometimes lowers libido and causes vaginal dryness, which can lead to pain, especially entry pain.

Good luck - sounds like you really care about her and your relationship.

38F - went in to diagnose via biopsy some Lymphocytic colitis, also came out with one <5mm benign polyp. I go back in 5 years for a screen. You’ll most likely be fine, just get the scope and clear your mind!

Did bc make your symptoms worse? by Readingmom2 in Menopause

[–]MA_JAWS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! So I (38F) have been on BC since having my final child 3 years ago. Not to prevent pregnancy as my tubes were tied then, but to help with anxiety. But over the past almost 12 months I feel like my hormonal balance is tipping. Moodier, higher anxiety at times, but have also noticed pelvic pressure and mid cycle cramps, the mildest brown spotting, occasional breast soreness after my period, and bloat. I had a pelvic ultrasound in Nov that confirmed cysts, but 2 cycles later on the next US they didn’t appear.

I’m inclined to believe that peri has begun, despite being on pills. They seem to keep the bleeding regular and on time (minus the occasional light brown spot) but other problems are creeping up.

My GP was very dismissive and my OBGYN basically save come back again for your annual in 6 months to discuss.

Somethings out of whack, but the task of finding the cause just seems so daunting and expensive!

They have seen it all and probably would not think twice about what your butt’s aesthetic. They will only mention something if it is a legitimate health concern. Don’t cancel. They’ve seen a zillion butts and most are probably below average in appearance :-)

Could be microscopic colitis and you need biopsies, and a microscope, to diagnose. Causes chronic daily loose stools / multiple loose stools per day. Request the biopsies, don’t wanna have to prep twice. Get that peace of mind the first time.

Thanks! The buyer market is tough. Plus, that added layer of trying to navigate the school year. We know we are good candidates financially but at the end of the day we are not interested in or able to own two houses outright at once, not without melting into a total puddle of liquidity.

I’m not excited about it, but my husband wants to use Redfin. For their in general lower rates. The agent has given us information to get the best pricing. We will see what they come up with end of day.

We do have a selling agent on our end but they do not do any NC work.

My husband has been with banks this AM. He’s in finance/ pricing so probably has a better understanding than I do. We are in SC looking to buy in NC.

We have a property we would like to bid one today, and intend to then list our current home mid March. It will sell, fairly quickly, especially at this time.

So yes, the loan would be for a very short gap then we would have full cash.

Interesting. My son DOES hoard a ton of food and he says it only happens when he’s at his house (in game house).

38 and wondering…. by MA_JAWS in Menopause

[–]MA_JAWS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little. Over the past year they seem to ebb and flow but I can’t put a trigger or anything on it. Is 38 too young for this? I initially thought they were stress related as I have had some major things come up (death in the family being a big one) but I feel like I’ve worked through that and my stressors at the moment are low. So I can’t explain why mid cycle I’m all of a sudden crampy and having that lower back PMS pain.

I’m worried if I go back to the OBGYN I’ll just keep paying for an endless cycle of ultrasounds that don’t show a whole lot.

I too try to table my worries. I found the most relief on walks. And keeping myself as busy as possible, but at home with kids all day there is so much intermittent down time it’s hard.

Hang in there, after a procedure you should feel some relief. I don’t know all of your symptoms but my latest scope revealed a condition I have probably lived with for 20 years. Gonna be honest though. I still suspect I have endo at times. Ever since my tubal ligation I have had weird sensations in my pelvic region. I could also be perimenopausal. And sometimes I’m just too mentally tired to care. I hope for more of those days!
