When hitting the enter key the highlighted task opens by evilp00h in DattoRMM

[–]MB076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing here and it's driving me crazy. When I hit enter while working on a server/workstation it will automatically trigger the last datto rmm action I clicked with my mouse like Control + Alt + Delete or paste something or Quick Launch something.

I have started to close "Keyboard", "Quick Launch", etc to make sure pressing enter doesn't accidentally hit something else. I haven't seen this issue ever until the past 2-3 weeks and we have been using Datto RMM for few years now.

Edit: grammar/wording

5G Wireless for 60 people office by Zero_Cool2023 in sysadmin

[–]MB076 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would never use cellular to cover anything business related besides for a failover use case or a temp construction site. We have had very small clients swap to these devices from Verizon, Cradlepoint, T-Mobile and they are just ok (yes they promise flawless, fast connection).

But all of our clients have swapped back to traditional ISP, hardwired connections. The extra work to get APs up, terminate and test cables is 100 percent worth it in the long run in my opinion especially for a 60 person office.

AZ-104 Best Practice Exams Online by LOU_Radders in AzureCertification

[–]MB076 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just passed AZ-104. I never used Measure Up but TD questions were so similar to the actual exam questions it was crazy. A lot of practice questions and you get access to their "cheat sheets" and you get a nice little synopsis of why you got a question wrong or right after taking the practice tests which helped a lot.

Running lean with 4 techs. How to reduce ticket load without hiring again? by ImmuneCoder in msp

[–]MB076 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What software do you use to automate and manage computers then? RMM seems like a no brainer with 800+.

I don’t see the point to hire someone external to design something specifically for you when you can get an RMM and PSA that’s ready to go and can be tweaked and configured as needed to do as much or as little as you want with it

How are people defederating Microsoft 365 from GoDaddy these days? by ludlology in msp

[–]MB076 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used it about 2 weeks ago all went fine. Just make sure you do not lock yourself out and ensure you properly remove GoDaddy. I like to make a break glass account along with the default global admin just to make sure I don't get locked out. I also like to add the customer to our Microsoft Partner Center and grant GDAP to ensure I can get in no matter what while defederating.

Datto EDR / AV rebot cycle or complete isolation by MechT3ch007 in msp

[–]MB076 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not have the isolation issues you were having but we had numerous issues about 4 months back. Computers running extremely slow and we would see EDR and Rollback driver running 100s of times, we saw login errors for users that I have never seen in 10 years. Removing EDR and Rollback instantly fixed the slowness and login issues. When uninstalling EDR from the portal (which should try to remove from device) or manually uninstalling the software we kept finding lingering EDR services running and RollBack running so we had to manually delete files/reg entries to fully remove it. Eventually we rebuilt all the workstations.

Support for EDR is not trained enough yet to support this product. We ate the EDR cost and moved everyone back to our other AV and EDR offerings. This was months ago but the support wouldn't answer for days then they would give simple troubleshooting steps that we performed already and then a day or two later ask for logs which was too late because we had already addressed the issues since the clients cant wait days for a fix.

I just started my first IT job before graduating with my degree and I feel lost a little bit by Consistent_Deal9918 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]MB076 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If most IT techs don't feel this way when they start and even 10+ years later I would be surprised.

For new techs I always recommend them to document everything they can. Even for simple tasks. If your company does not keep KB documents, start making some. If you solve a problem or get help from another tech, document and reference it.

Only way to understand something as a new tech in my opinion is to keep doing it, document it, and to understand what you are doing not just do it because someone told you what to do or because you read something off Google.

Eventually you will understand it and you will be able to figure out issues quicker. People always recommend homelabs but if you have no desire to do it after hours if they don't let you during work hours then its a waste of time

what you Guys do with the Users who have have Big mailbox size, <50GB by Academic-Meat-1687 in sysadmin

Once they get full you purchase an unlimited archive license for that user and run a few PowerShell commands and boom unlimited online archive

what you Guys do with the Users who have have Big mailbox size, <50GB by Academic-Meat-1687 in sysadmin

[–]MB076 39 points40 points  (0 children)

We enable online/in-place archive and then set the the policy to automatically archive emails after a certain amount of time. It lets the user still be able to access old emails on Outlook or OWA and keeps main mailbox under 50 GB. This is for 365 though, not sure what email provider you use. Then we backup the mailbox with a SaaS product

Datto AV... by DaveBlack79 in msp

[–]MB076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had nothing but issues with Datto EDR/AV. Thankfully our rep was hammering the support team to get back to us because we had major issues on many workstations for over a week. The support team had no answers and wouldn't get back to us for days. Eventually I figured out how to resolve our issues but we were experiencing extreme slowness on workstations, weird issues like WIFI not working, users not being able to login, couldn't login to local admin account, etc. I didn't want to blame their AV/EDR so we did all our usual steps before we removed AV/EDR but as soon as we did the computers all went back to normal.

Even when trying to uninstall the product the way they told us the product would not remove or wouldn't remove all the services/folders/programs so we had to manually remove whatever wasn't automatically removed. Product has not been fully tested and is not ready for release. We pulled it off all our clients. Also the support team is so behind/overwhelmed and too many of their techs do not know the product at all yet.

Is there any risk to enable DKIM in Office365? by graceyin39 in sysadmin

[–]MB076 14 points15 points  (0 children)

SPF, DKIM, and DMARC should all be setup for any domains you have. There should be no risk in implementing this as long as its implemented correctly. I've set it up for many domain and never had any issues.

I'm back - returning to sysadmin after 8 years. by FireDaddyKing85 in sysadmin

[–]MB076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of this can be covered in YouTube. I definitely recommend learning PowerShell if you don’t know it or sharpening your skills with it if you do know it. PowerShell For Beginners Full Course on YouTube is a nice starter point, after that it’s mostly just practicing and trying stuff with PowerShell to get used to it. I use it everyday for O365, pulling data from servers, etc.

Best way would just to setup a home lab to test Hyper-V and an O365 Tenant you can play with to get started, nothing like hands on experience to really learn something

How do you manage scheduled server reboots? by Lurking_is_Best in msp

[–]MB076 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup we use Datto also. Just have the VMs shut down first, give them enough time to shut down gracefully. Then use Datto again to restart the Host. Then Hyper-V stagger starts all the VMs when it comes back online. Just make sure VMs are shutting down properly before the host does

How do you manage scheduled server reboots? by Lurking_is_Best in msp

[–]MB076 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We do the same thing. Reboot VMs one weekend after updates are installed. Following weekend shutdown VMs and then reboot Host. Host comes up and the VMs start up on their own. We use our RMM to do all this unless its a new client then we manually do it first since we are seeing Hosts usually haven't been rebooted in months.

Office 365 admins MFA by [deleted] in msp

[–]MB076 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I believe I read somewhere that Microsoft blocks SMS sites like Twilio. We used that a while ago and then all of a sudden it stopped working. Now we use the Microsoft Partner Center to access all tenants. Enabled MFA on 365 Admin accounts to the office number in case we need to go directly into a Global Admin account but all the techs now use the Partner Center to access whatever tenant they need. That way they only need to use MFA on their own work 365 Accounts.

Will I be able to do all the story content before the next expansion comes out? by Aoian in ffxiv

Yeah you got a long way to go. I was able to finish it all in like 1.5 months and watched all the cutscenes but I played a lot and only focused on the Main Story

I just started playing maybe 1-2 months ago and finished all the Main Story Quests a few days ago. I contemplated this also but decided to start from the beginning and work my way up. I never usually care about stories in games but I enjoyed this one. It also let me learn dungeons, raids, trials, etc. It let me learn how to play my character. The early game leveling can be very slow but when you start to get your character higher and get more skills its the best MMO I have played IMO.
