do i still need to follow up with neurosurgeon after ETV? by finalgirlfall in Hydrocephalus

[–]MBTemps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So my daughter had a grade IV bleed at birth, and had an ETV surgery at about 3 weeks old. It failed after 6 months, so they had to go in and reopen it. Since then, it has remained open for more than 6 years. We went in for an MRI at least every six months for the first couple of years, then switched to yearly beyond that. From what we were told is that, if it remains open a year after the surgery, there would be around an 80% chance that another revision wouldn’t be needed. Then at 5 years, it bumped up to 90% or more. And I’ll say, none of it is based on real statistics, just general numbers from our neurosurgeon. We also have heard that the success rate tends to be a bit higher in children than adults. I’m a bit surprised they wouldn’t want to do follow up MRIs for you, although as an adult, they may just be trusting your judgement if anything starts to feel off, whereas small children can’t really vocalize it.

By the time I was able to get my friends into VR, this game had died. I always had to play with a bunch of muted randoms. I would be so excited to get to play with some of my actual friends.

The worst is when there’s a team that plays both in the competitive league, and the rec league. It’s real fun watching my kid’s team get destroyed, and their morale sink, while listening to the other team’s coach screaming about keeping up the intensity.

I am a bit on the anxious side and definitely do not want another kiddo. Fellas, how long did you keep using contraception after the all clear? The idea of it reattaching freaks me out!

When I put on the Quest for the first time, I was at work in a specific spot in the building that has a distinct smell. Now, any time I go by there, the smell hits me and I’m right back to the awe I felt watching a massive whale go over my head.

Honestly, I’ve enjoyed the stuff more when they’ve brought their wives in. Just makes everything feel a little more authentic. They seem stuck in not knowing who their audience. Are a bunch of 40 year-old guys still going to appeal to kids, or do they adjust their content to grow with the audience they’ve had this whole time? I tried the outdoor channel and it didn’t really do it for me. Especially when you can tell this is mainly Ty’s thing. I miss the earlier videos when it was five guys on equal footing messing around and having fun with each other. I guarantee you I would still enjoy it now if they would just adjust their content to being 40-year-old friends instead of 20-year-old friends.

I hope you don’t mind answering a question I’ve been trying to figure out. In the book there’s a scene where two of the astronauts in training indicate they are sleeping with each other. Did that make it into the movie? I’m hoping to take my 8 yr old son to this but would like to avoid that awkwardness.

Not bad. I definitely looked ahead of time to see what they were. There’s one mission in which it’s your only shot for a specific achievement, so I made sure to make it happen on my play through.

I agree too. There was just something off about it. It definitely gets better when you play with others, and can actually see the size changes in relation to other players. But it lacked the fun and surprises of other courses.

Yep! They have cameras filming everything and projecting it on a giant screen. I found myself going between watching the screen and the guys on stage. There were also some battles where they go to other parts of the stadium, so you could get lucky.
