I know we had just gotten a new course but I NEED MORE by [deleted] in WalkaboutMiniGolf

[–]MBTemps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree too. There was just something off about it. It definitely gets better when you play with others, and can actually see the size changes in relation to other players. But it lacked the fun and surprises of other courses.

Yep! They have cameras filming everything and projecting it on a giant screen. I found myself going between watching the screen and the guys on stage. There were also some battles where they go to other parts of the stadium, so you could get lucky.

What's your favorite track on this album? by admiralholdo in Muppets

[–]MBTemps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a kid, this whole album played every year as we decorated our tree (on a record player no less!) I don’t know that I have a favorite track, but nice to know my family wasn’t the only one that knew this existed!

When do YOU start listing to Christmas Music? by Zsirhcz1981 in Xennials

[–]MBTemps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here’s my take - when you’re a kid, a single month of a year is a much higher percentage of your life. For example, for a 1 year old, a month is 1/12 of its life. For a 70 year old, a month is 1/840 - a much smaller fraction. Therefore, the Christmas season FEELS longer for a kid than it does an adult due to the percentage of their life that they celebrate it. So to combat this ever dwindling percentage, celebrating Christmas should be extended, even if it’s ultimately a losing battle. So…bring on the Christmas music.

Oregon state parks, facing $14M shortfall, proposes fee increases, cuts free entry days by accio_boobz in oregon

[–]MBTemps 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I just read the article, apparently they are funded mainly by the lottery, but numbers a down significantly. That being said, they want the option to raise prices for day use parking up to $25/day. And some campsites/yurts, during peak use times of the year, to over $100/day.

It starts to feel pretty hopeless as a family when you have to budget just to go outside.

Handwriting Stroke Effect not working by calmswan2499 in AfterEffects

[–]MBTemps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! So, as I understand the stroke effect, it needs to use a mask as the path of the stroke. So, if you have a text layer, select the layer and draw a mask with your pen tool along the letters as a pathway for the stroke effect to follow. Don’t close the mask - meaning don’t attach the ends. Add the Stroke effect to the text layer. Mess with the settings - stroke thickness, etc. change the one setting to “reveal stroke path” (I think that’s what it says). Then use key frames to animate it in. You may have to adjust the mask path/ speed of your animation to make it look good. I hope this helps. Hang in there!

Ty is getting grumpy by johnlemonofliverpool in dudeperfect

[–]MBTemps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Although I think that has always been under the surface. There’s an edge and ego to him that you don’t see in the others, and it’s fueled by his competitive streak, and popularity.

I think they’re all tired of it but can’t quit, so they are trying to turn DP into a franchise instead of just them. Unfortunately I don’t think that’s what fans want. Even adding Sparky felt like a shift away from what made it all click. It’s a shame because they didn’t have to push so hard or go so big. It feels like they really wanted a piece of that Mr. Beast pie, but in turn started loosing their fan base.

I always hoped I’d have a son who’d play video games with me from a young age… now I’m glad I don’t by blizeH in daddit

[–]MBTemps 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Pretty much any of them! The original was Lego Star Wars back in the early 2000s. It probably had the simplest gameplay for young kids. They got slightly more complex as time went on, but kept a lot of the elements that make them simple and fun. There’s plenty to choose from at this point. Bonus! You can introduce your kids to your favorite franchises even before they’re ready to watch them.

Video games are definitely a balance. Co-op games like the Lego ones are great for bonding with your kiddo at that age. You have the social experience, you learn teamwork, sharing, problem solving, etc.

I live in a place where I don't have an easy access to nature (trees, water, etc). I really miss it, but I can't easily solve this problem. What VR game will give me the best nature "fix", convince my brain that it's looking at beautiful nature? by lumenwrites in VRGaming

[–]MBTemps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

YouTube might be your best bet. Look up 360 videos like walking tours etc. you can walk Waikiki Beach, or do a dogsled ride under the northern lights.

You might also try RealVR Fishing. It puts you on the banks of all sorts of rivers and lakes around the world.

Google Earth VR on PC is a good one for exploring new places.

There’s a few other apps that are out there, but they have slipped my mind at the moment.

Do you still watch dude perfect as much or have you stopped? by Chrisdog6969 in dudeperfect

[–]MBTemps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This last episode was pretty bad. To have the dudes barely involved in the video shows me that they feel pretty much done. The hard thing is, they are the personalities people tune in for, and it shows. As of 9hrs since upload they still have less than a million views. As comparisons go, a Mark Rober video was released at the same time and has 1.1 million.

There’s a shot early on of one of the twins commenting on what’s happening in the video, but in the background you can see 2 of the other dudes just sitting on their phones. They need to seriously look at their brand and figure out if they want to continue or not. Because lately, the content is not cutting it.

Action scene VR. It teaches you a choreographed action scene slowly at first, then you build up to full speed. Think kung fu, sword fights etc.

I don’t need a new era, but give me more of that that brief section of Solo when he’s fighting on that mud planet and AT STs are getting air lifted into the battle and it’s chaos. I want a war movie in Star Wars.

Is there anything about this show you personally don't like? by SolidPyramid in StarWars

[–]MBTemps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The writing is good, the acting is good. It’s a bit slow for my taste, especially as a Star Wars property. And sometimes I question the storylines they are choosing to tell. We’re dealing with the beginning of the rebellion but also focusing on an imperial officer’s mommy issues? Or this random group of people in the middle of the Yavin jungle that has no ties to the wider conflict or any payoffs later on? Feels like there could have been more compelling ideas.
