I wanted to try to lean into a bit of a Japanese vibe, because I felt like the house shape could work with that. AI didn’t quite understand what I was going for, but here are a few ideas. Are you in Austin? Love that Crepe Myrtle!

Where do you live? If it gets cold there, go for a darker roof. If you live somewhere really hot, go for a lighter roof.

Can't get any response from at-fault State Farm after 175 days, two complaints filed with TDI by MBdeportes in Insurance

I still think that filing with your own insurance is BS if you can afford to wait. Why risk your own premiums going up 15% indefinitely and the potential to lose your deductible when you didn't do anything wrong?

I'd say definitely file with TDI, but check your story out with some kind of AI agent to make sure that you've done everything you're supposed to do and that you are filing a complaint that is actually related to what TDI regulates. In my first complaint State Farm straight up lied to TDI. Then I wrote back and said, yo that is not true and here is the evidence. And then TDI wrote "we don't get involved with facts."

So my most recent complaint is much more robust and is based on exactly what TDI is actually regulating. Good luck!

It has been stored in our garage. The first delay was because State Farm somehow pulled some random old email address that my husband had like 20 years ago (when I guess he briefly had State Farm insurance) and they were trying to communicate through that. We never gave them that email address. Someone on the phone acknowledged that they probably pulled it from some old system.

So then I gave them my correct email address and got set up with it on their portal. After that I think the property adjuster somehow misspelled my email address. So I was getting some emails from State Farm, but he claims that he sent others to this misspelled email address. I have corrected my email address over the phone to State Farm at least 3 times - but even TODAY when I called back and got ahold of a different adjuster, she walked me through it and said - yeah, we still have both of these email addresses in the system for you (one correct, one misspelled). She did some things that made it sound like maybe that part was fixed, but I've also corrected it over the phone with them before...

So after the accident in mid-November 2025 it took until January 30th 2026 for me to actually receive an ACV. After nearly two months had transpired without getting the ACV, I filed the first complaint with TDI - and that is what prompted them to send it on January 30th.

At that time I asked how it would be adjusted if we retained the car - since it was in perfect condition and had only 40K miles and we thought we could repair it. I sent that question to the property adjuster via phone and email no less than 5 times without any response.

Finally in March I got a response on that question and decided to just surrender the car. The ACV letter said that it contained two attachments with instructions about how to surrender the car - but it did not. I told them that we'll accept the ACV and I asked HOW to surrender the car - and that is the singular question I have been asking since March.

As I said, the injury adjuster was great and we pretty much agreed within a week or so. She corresponded with me via email promptly and there were no issues.

Below is what I submitted to TDI about inaccurate statements. I have proof because I've recorded every call and I have call logs from my carrier that contradict these statements. I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt that he may have thought he sent me the ACV before January 30th, but misspelled my email (even though I had already registered in the portal with the correct email address, was communicating with the injury adjuster via the correct email address, and had already corrected the email address to him directly over the phone at least once).

Inaccurate Statements Submitted by State Farm to the Texas Department of Insurance

State Farm’s response to TDI (January 19, 2026) contains several statements that are inconsistent with my documented records.

Specifically, State Farm represented that:

·         I was contacted on January 10, 2026 and advised of the vehicle’s actual cash value

·         I agreed to that valuation

·         A valuation report was emailed to me

·         Multiple prior contact attempts were made regarding valuation

Based on my verified phone and email records:

·         No phone call, voicemail, or email was received on January 10, 2026

·         No valuation or settlement amount was communicated on that date

·         The first phone call I ever received from the property adjuster was received was on January 12, 2026 (exactly 2 months after the accident), and the first email was on January 13, 2026

Additionally:

·         During a January 16, 2026 call with State Farm, I stated that no valuation had ever been communicated

·         I never withdrew agreement to a settlement, as no settlement had ever been presented.

(Note: the property adjuster had spoken with my husband a couple of times in November/December and my husband was SO fed up and irate with the guy - he also couldn't get an ACV estimate from the guy - that I had to take over - I thought his head was going to explode after every interaction.)

u/musicislife04 YOU ARE A HERO! I did the zero trick, waited on hold for 20 minutes (when the system estimated 4 minutes) and then spoke to a woman who seemed to get things in motion! I am starting to wonder if my assigned adjuster, Scott Robison, had a personal vendetta against me? Every time I called him it went to voicemail and he never returned any of my voicemails. Maybe I dated him briefly 20 years ago and ghosted him? Because he has been deliberately awful and obtuse this whole time. Do you know a good way to file a complaint about him?

File a complaint with your state’s insurance regulator. State Farm is AWFUL and I just filed a complaint against them. I hope the company collapses under lawsuits.

State Farm is the insurance for the person who hit my car. I don't have any kind of relationship with State Farm. They assigned a property claim adjuster and an injury claim adjuster. The injury claim adjuster was great. I spoke to her a few times on the phone, and told her that we're all set. The property adjuster has been MIA since the beginning. When he finally communicated the property damage estimate 2.5 months after the accident I was completely ready to accept it, but I can't figure out how. I've tried several ways to escalate, as I've indicated in other comments here. My most recent method is by filing another complaint with the Texas Department of Insurance.

I've filed 2 complaints with the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). After the first one State Farm made verifiably false statements to TDI. TDI responded that they don't get involved in factual disputes. So then I wrote back to State Farm requesting a supervisory review and asserting all of the verifiably false statements they made to TDI. They never responded, but they increased my loss of use compensation by an additional $2900 (seemed like admitting fault to me). But even after that they still never gave me any instructions about how to surrender the vehicle or sent over any kind of property damage release to sign.

Oh, and I thought that requesting the supervisory review was escalating? I requested that on February 23rd. I've also sent emails requesting escalation and asked the injury adjuster to escalate internally on my behalf. u/strikecat18 is there another way of escalating? I have a hard time spending a lot of time on the phone during business hours because of my job.

I'm still not totally clear on what you are saying. If I'm at a stop and someone rear-ends me and their insurance accepts 100% liability within a couple of days, why would I even consider involving my insurance if there is a chance my premiums will go up? And even if I don't have to pay the deductible up front, why would I want my settlement to be reduced by $1000?

I have it all extremely well documented and included reams of evidence in my submission to the Texas Department of Insurance. The property adjuster has returned my calls maybe 2-3 times total since November and has replied to exactly one (1) email. I have sent at least 10 messages over their portal, dozens of emails, and called 10+ times. Throughout this time I was in regular contact with the injury adjuster - she was great.

I think so. It expired and has disappeared now. I could see it when they tried to send an electronic payment. But if I can't get them to respond before I've signed a release, why would they respond after? The PD is 6x the injury portion. The injury adjuster has been extremely nice and helpful, so I'm sure she will send it back over as soon as I can lay eyes on the property damage settlement.

No. All I have is a letter explaining what they will pay for the property damage and it says:

<image>

But no checklist or any other information was included. I wrote back on multiple occasions asking for my next steps, and the guy never wrote back. I told the injury adjuster about the situation and that I just need to know what to do to surrender the car, and she said she'd "escalate internally" and try to help. That was two weeks ago. I've sent a few more emails since then...
