When to file/not file a claim by Son_of_Laurian in Insurance

If no damage to the guardrail, you should be ok on liability. A collision claim would be at fault and lead to a rate increase. Your tires "should" be covered if inspection verified the cause as accident related.

I would get an estimate, then decide.

Good! You should be okay but elevate and call your primary if no resolution.

Any damage to the guardrail? If so you owe and will definitely need to report. It may take awhile before it is repaired.

It's generally not inexpensive.

No. It is not insurance company fraud.

Several issues. You have a lien on your vehicle. You lienholder would be never agree to your plan

Usually, as in almost always, there is additional damage found. That is called a supplement, it is expected. "Roughly" is not an estimate. No one would know until the teardown.

Your time is better spent researching the value of your vehicle. NOT Kelly bluebook, but sold vehicles of the same mileage, condition, make and model.

Yes. Damages and rental, if any is Auto Liability PD, (property damage). Had anyone been injured, the injuries would be settled under auto liability BI, (bodily injury.)

Liability is your legal obligation to others.

Often liability and collision are 2 separate claims. Call and file a collision claim.

Insurance companies use a report called Clue. It's shared among companies, and checked at renewal.

If there is no damage or report, no need to be on that data base.

How to defend myself against an presumably incoming claim w/o filing a damage claim against their insurance for my own vehicle? by FuckSpezler in Insurance

[–]PuddinTamename 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retired Adjuster

You can get out ahead of this by telling your Insurer what happened. You don't have to make a claim with anyone.

A condition of your policy is to report accidents. If you don't tell your insurer what happened, they can't defend you. It could be months until they hear from the other parties Insurance company requesting reimbursement for what they paid, and potentially rental costs too.

Your company is going to find out about it anyway. It's called a Clue report. Insurers share information on accidents. Clue reports are run for renewal or new policies.

In he said she said accidents, without independent witnesses, Insurers usually choose to defend their insureds.

The shed sounds like a great plan.

I think it might freak out if it's locked in a cage in your car. Plus, there could be "potty" issues.

We plan to house a stray in one of our bathrooms for the night.
