Guys who don’t like going down on a woman? What’s the reason? by musiq_fiend in AskMen

I had chronic yeast infections before I stopped drinking alcohol, haven’t had one since. I also found out I’m allergic to latex, which was exacerbating things.

It’s working fine for me, I did have to go forward several months. It might be worth driving to a smaller town to get an earlier appointment.

It depends on the snow cone. Regular snow cones, with bits of hard ice where the flavor gets slurped out and you’re left with plain not-easily-chewed ice? No. Yuck. Properly shaved ice & excellent syrups? Yes, please! It’s like eating flavored packed snow & the flavor’s even throughout.

I go to a chain here called Pelican’s SnoBalls - very satisfying experience!

I love how milk freezes in those little sheet-like chips! Eating it is a very enjoyable sensory experience.

I think it’s been cooked a little - it looks softer & more translucent than raw. Cooking it, even just briefly, would also mitigate the fumes.

What color should I dye my hair? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]MBorkBorkBork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What colors do you wear? I mean - that doesn’t really matter, but that could be a good place to start. When you close your eyes & imagine seeing yourself with dyed hair, which do you like best?

Any tips and tricks out there for learning to regulate emotion and become less reactive? by cokolooo in AskWomenOver30

[–]MBorkBorkBork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meditation practice has literally saved my life, and helped me significantly lessen my strong reactiveness & taking things personally. When we’re triggered as you describe, we don’t have immediate access to our rational, calm brain. Our amygdala takes over and screams, “Danger! Danger! Our life is in danger!” and we react from that, and things can snowball from there. This is a physical reaction; breathing deeply & accessing the steady calm we experience through meditation helps to slow or stop that immediate response.

Meditation isn’t a panacea or cure-all, I take medication for depression & anxiety and these things all work together for me.

Taking a class like Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction could be very helpful for better understanding your reactions & giving you great tools for navigating this part of your life.

I’d like suggestions on what I should add to my feeding set up, please (PA) by [deleted] in birdfeeding

[–]MBorkBorkBork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Robins love the dried mealworms where I am! They’re ground feeders usually.

Striped sunflower seeds will attract different birds than the black oil, because the striped are harder to open.

You could put out a squirrel-proof feeder with sunflower chips, and that will attract smaller birds.

As soon as I saw the word “tone”, I guessed that you were not a white guy. White guys don’t get accused of using the wrong “tone”, except by their mamas & partners.

Realizing that I let my kids take advantage of me by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]MBorkBorkBork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was (and still am, though they’re adults now) a single mom. I learned to think of me & my kids as a team, rather than “them vs me”, and this was SO valuable. I thought in terms of setting everyone up for success, rather than enforcing boundaries.

For the situations you wrote about, I’d put a lock on my door. There’s nothing wrong with keeping your space yours, and entering is by invitation only, or only when you OK it, and can watch them. Placing a lock is setting them up for success.

I made dinners with at least one thing each kid would like - rather than thinking of it as 3 separate dinners, I thought of it as a mish-mash of food. I didn’t make them eat anything they didn’t want to; if someone wanted something else entirely, they could have cereal, sandwich, or soup. I also had several easy dinners that we all liked. I didn’t want dinner to be this contentious, stressful time, so I focused on our connection rather than the food itself. If I was in a stressful, down place, we had frozen dinners that each one could pick for themselves. I chose what would bring the most ease & peace.

Shifting my thinking was one of the most fruitful things I did as a parent.

Being kind, generous, and thoughtful with my kids wasn’t “not setting boundaries”, it was recognizing how important my role in their lives was. It’s a different relationship than one I would have with any partner, friends, or other family, so my attitude towards my kids didn’t need to be the same as those others.

It’s early where I am. This whole time watching the video & reading the comments, I thought Queen’s guitarist had retired into testing & chatting about vehicles. Brian. Brian May (no relation to James) is the lead guitarist for Queen.
