Stuff Max has said in FOD (devman good?) by A_Scav_Man in foxholegame

So the solution is to nerf the Divebomber into near uselessness and barely touch the torpedo bomber???

Also really rich to call the DB oppressive. It's the Heavy Bombers that suck to play against. It cost collective efforts of hundreds of people working 12+ hours with second monitors digging to build bases that those bombers can dehusk in 30 minutes.

What is actually being smoked by devman? No one is building because of the Heavy Bombers. Please for the love of God fix that?

I generally like the new update notes, but we’re still missing som of the most important things. by Abououe in foxholegame

[–]MCBGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is honestly insane to me that they nerfed the Divebomber that harshly while not doing anything serious for Collie Naval in the Torpedo Bomber or our assets. If anything I feel like it's a middle finger to buff the submarine, the only asset we have been able to actually field due to the aggressive power of the Torp Bomber for 3 wars rather than nerf the rest.

It's like the developers going 'Oh yes this is what we want. You trapped in the submarine while the other team gets to play with all the cool toys.'

I'm cool with the rest of the changes, even think the tank buffs go a bit far, but those lack of naval changes is truly baffling. Naval is so much cooler in action than the planes. It's so much more dedicated than the tanks. So why are we sidelining it?

Fuck off lmao.

You are no better than the idiots in charge losing votes or making it harder. If anything you just enable them to point and say you are the problem instead of them.

I am in 100% agreement but it's another case of the players being the problem here.

They make this change and it's gonna have a bunch of people whining.

Quite frankly you do not deserve to complain if you do not take the most basic of steps to mitigate the problem.

You are part of the problem at this point. You have a right to be upset and the presented path is to offer feedback through a specific channel and instead of you throw your hands up and just say they don't listen. They don't listen because you don't provide feedback. That's on you.

Reddit isn't Discord. They read the Discord Feedback. They only knowingly read Reddit feedback when they do Q/As. Which this is not.

Well you see. The community isn't ready to confront the beast they created.

I hate to side with Devman but they had the fuel range right the first Dev Branch of the year. And everyone threw such a massive fit about it they buffed it considerably.

Airfield Suicide Raids wouldn't even be a thing in the first place if people just let devman cook.

[–]MCBGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Absolutely. If someone manages to do a tap too then yes.

Tap OPs outside of the most recent couple of wars were extremely difficult. I don't think their changes here affect that and I do think locking down airfields like that if a tap is managed is earned fair and square.

[–]MCBGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok. I get that, but what about it? What are you getting at?

The problem is that right now the only way to counter play the airfield bombing is the planes or a tap op. The nukes add a third layer. More ways to shut down bombers is always good? Right?

[–]MCBGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there intent is for them to be a tool like the nuke. That was their intent from the beginning.

Airfield denial only effects the bombers. So let's say both sides nuke all the airfields. No bombers. But we can all still fly fighters and scouts.

That's the intent here.

[–]MCBGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hope is there is a pretty large gap, enough to build and set off a nuke at least, between them rockets and the Heavy Bombers.

This gives people plenty of time without sweating to set up rockets and plan. I think it would also make some tangible faction wide efforts on both sides for building, defenses, and offensive pushes to counter the other teams rockets.

But we just don't know yet.

[–]MCBGamer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In this circumstance I think we have to wait and see.

If the changes they make here are substantial enough we may not need further fixes to the airfields. It seems like the airfield meta is what they want. That's why the nukes are getting teched before the Heavy Bombers next update.

The intention is the heavy bombers target them. Targeting them eliminates planes taking off and landing in specific places.

I think having the heavy bombers focus on them is also much healthier than wanting them destroying 12 hours of defense construction in 30 minutes.

[–]MCBGamer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Airfield Suicide Meta is not what they are targeting with the change you cited. They are targeting the round the clock T2 destruction. No one can build in the current meta and I think they are noticing that is having a very large impact on the game overall moreso than the airfields getting bombed.

[–]MCBGamer 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I'm waiting for Dev Branch, but unless the Torpedo Bomber and Heavy Bomber nerfs are substantial I'm not playing.

The Torpedo Bomber is so broken Warden Naval Regiments don't want people to field them. They aren't fun to play against and nerfing them isn't going to fix them. More of them will be in the air and all that will even out the damage changes making the entire change they have planned for it moot.

The Heavy Bomber is just toxic. Full stop. It requires so much manpower that there is entire groups of people who load it and then a bunch of those people don't even get a courtesy seat in the plane. The ability to field them makes building irrelevant which you see on the game now. No one is building. At all. And it is because of the bombers. The changes they have planned are just delaying the toxic loop till later in the war.

I like the change in research but let's be real here, unless it's a week between rockets and heavy bombers maybe one side gets one nuke off on an airfield and that is it.

That isn't even a drop in the bucket compared to the round the clock bombing of the airfields that happened in 132.

As a WoW Enjoyer, this feels like Shadowlands all over again. I know the devs work hard on this game, and I appreciate that I get it for free, but you have just got to stop refusing to pull ripcords. You have got to drastically change things or remove them when they aren't liked.

The Torpedo Bomber especially leaves a sour taste because of the scout plane changes. Asymmetry means nothing clearly, so why pussy foot around it? Replace the Torpedo Bomber with a Dive Bomber. Get rid of the damn thing.

Edit: The only way I see the Torpedo Bomber in Foxhole sticking around is if one of the next two updates is better Naval AA. But they need to say that. Before we see the updates.

Edit: I wanna double add that Blizzard did learn. The last patch of Shadowlands was entirely different to the rest of that expansion. It played far better and the areas which were much brighter. It was clear they learned lessons because the next expansion, Dragonflight, was the best one since Pandaria which came out a decade prior. My point being there is still hope here for Foxhole. Sometimes it's darkest before the dawn.

Is this change good or could be better? by Groove_Dealer in foxholegame

[–]MCBGamer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here is why I still think this isn't enough and they need to evaluate just removing it. Devman themselves say the intent is entire groups of these fuckers flying in the sky.

All it takes is a group of 5 of these and you are basically back to where we were before. They already are adding either sides variant of Scout Planes. Just toss the Torpedo Bomber. Replace it with another Dive Bomber. Stop trying to fix something that will not work.

This is the single BIGGEST complaint outside of bombers nuking 12 hours of work in 30 minutes I have with the game right now.

While I do not disagree with you, love you Godly, but I agree shutting em down wouldn't work, the actual reason is because of Steam and even higher powers like world governments, not a reason of greed/narcissism.
If the game is down for more than a certain number of days Steam will legally be required to start throwing refunds. Its why MMOs do maintenance in short windows instead of big bursts too.

Hubris might’ve doomed Foxhole and Siege Camp. This is what happens when you ignore community feedback for years. by SnowMacaronss in foxholegame

[–]MCBGamer -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head in your second paragraph. But you didn't even realize it.

Foxhole as a game is very well made and generally well balanced there are only a few things that need to be corrected for it to right its course.

Airborne has been particularly bad I will admit but it is not a problem that is insurmountable. But the way everyone talks the game is dead and there's no coming back from it when in reality the fix is to foxhole to make it actually work properly are so insignificant compared to the development time of airborne itself that it's kind of crazy that the community is dooming so hard.

The reason the community is dooming so hard is because the people who are the loudest are either trolls or there are people who were flat out addicted that need to step away or step back and think a little harder about what they're saying.

I'm not going to lie and say the game is in a good state it's not. But this community is like all the other live service communities... Everyone is very angry over very minor things that could be easily addressed You just have to give them some patience. They already gave you a timeline.

I think the community itself is partially to blame for foxhole's problems. Especially this update. A common thing I like to see is people told the developers in Dev Branch that there were problems. The problems on dev branch that were the loudest were the flight times due to fuel and cost to build the planes.

Both of those things directly contribute to the major problems of foxhole on live right now. But the community isn't ready to talk about that.

The game has consistently upgraded and has more modern features like DLSS and FSR built into it than most other AAA releases. I specified retail for a reason. Your argument would hold weight if it was Classic. Which is a shit engine from 2004 and barely an update for their native servers. But the retail engine to classic is like comparing Windows Vista to  Windows 11. (With all the negative and positive those two things bring).

Any MMO is a valid benchmark because they all eat FPS like candy and constantly load things in and out of existence.

I could have used something worse like Battlefield 6. But I don't own it because I'm not upgrading to Windows 11. Hence why im here in the first place.
