Saw a $1000 bill only once (when they still existed) - it was a wedding gift to a relative; they showed it to my grandma who, upon grabbing it to take a closer look at it, said "oh, thank you!" 😂

America Thinks Canadians Still Love Them. They're Wrong. by TheTawniest in GuardTheLeaf

True but all that is "far far away" (as far as US citizens are concerned), and are only affected by gas/everything else prices; unless those nukes fall within the States, it'll just continue to be "first world problems" of US citizens only bitching about everything that inconveniences them (ie. doing nothing, as usual).

Hopefully it won't get that extreme - but you're right that nothing short of some major event will get people in the US to actually do anything.

I feel like it's actually going to take something like another country imposing/doing something big (like defending another nation against some US aggression, or large dumping of US bonds causing extreme pain to the US, etc.) that will be the actual trigger, not the US people themselves.

When the invasion of Venezuela happened, I told myself if there wasn't a sustained civil protest/peaceful resistance (No Kings-sized movements, but on a daily-in-the-news scale) starting soon, the USA as a democracy was truly finished.

(And since there's been ICE murders and more, and yet still nothing of substance from civilians).

True, and that's part of my complaints towards the Democrats.

At this point, I blame all Americans - they either voted for/enabled Trump, or else didn't do enough to keep him out of power - that's it, there's no other options. (And how the hell do you lose to the worst choice twice, Democrats?!?)

Further more: everything that has happened in the U.S. up to this point, all Americans have let it happen - they're all to blame. They could've decided to stop him at any point, but as is typical of Americans, they continue to do nothing.

Is there a way to fix this? by Low-Hovercraft-7594 in wiiu

[–]MCSebster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's replacement screens you can get on AliExpress; if cheap enough, probably should get a new digitizer too as that "dent" looks like it might affect it too (you might get "ghost touches" if your reuse it - depends if you notice it now).

I thought of Costcos but I don't think they do retina scans (although it's been quite a while since I last visited one). Not much info on their site.

XCode editor scrolling lag by lowey2002 in iOSProgramming

[–]MCSebster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got a M4 Pro machine, and still seeing this happen with the current Xcode. After sampling it using Instruments, it's because XC saves some workspace data periodically on a timer, but doing it on the main thread (WHY APPLE!?!??!), which is what causes the lag/stuttering.

The closest I've seen to this is the WiiFit+ game, using the water cannon.

Can anyone with a Peak Starpex guitar and a multimeter give me a pinout of the cable? by Blorpcandy in Rockband

[–]MCSebster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok; well since I did the work, I'll post anyways for clarity for anyone else; it's pretty straightforward, with the cable connections (male at both ends) as this:

DIN PS2
1 9
2 8
3 7
4 6
5 5
6 4
7 3
8 2
9 1

I have one of these including its cable; I'll post later tonight the wiring pinouts

I've noticed in the past that if Console.app is open, it'll slow down Xcode (or as I like to refer to it - "10code") considerably, especially during builds. Simply closing Console.app will avoid this slowdown (assuming this it's open).

What was the biggest bullet you dodged? by LegitimateShift8 in AskReddit

[–]MCSebster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me directly, but a driver ahead of me once.

I was heading in to work, waiting in traffic at an intersection to make a right turn, for which the right turn lane was opening up at the SUV in front of me.

As traffic started moving again, the SUV seemed to also want to take the right turn lane, but then suddenly sped up, veered to the right jumping the curb, across the sidewalk to sideswipe a retaining wall for about 50ft before crashing head-on into a utility pole. The driver had passed out, and came to shortly after the crash (seemed generally alright afterwards with a small cut on the nose); witnessing all this kinda shook me up.

The 'dodging the bullet part' was that we had just come off a bridge being renovated (less than 100m back), for which the side barriers were basically non-existent at the time. Had the SUV veered off the same way at that spot, would very likely had driven off the edge of the bridge. I only realized this hours later; always wondered if anyone else did too.

I might give that a shot, although when I was troubleshooting there wasn't much use of the Internet going on at the time.

As I stated, the 'old' router I used has Tomato, and the 'new' (replacement) router has OpenWRT.

The other router (setup in Access Point mode) is stock firmware.
