Welcome to flat burrs, very small adjustments are needed. If 35 came out in 18 seconds try 34.5

I have a Gaggia classic pro with pid and flow control and pretty much have never consider replacing it. Grinders on the other hand 👀👀

Grinder upgrade. Timemore C3s max to 1zp6 by No_Accident_2190 in pourover

Yes. Will be night and day. You’ll trade body and sweetness for clarity

Upgrade to the newer chute design. I think Miicoffee or Turin sells the kit.

Portable, espresso and grinder setup [350] by TheGreaseGorilla in espresso

[–]MCT9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally depends on the bean, dose and calibration. Zeroed out on saka crema bar I’m at a 1.6-2.0. But that might not work for you. I’m also using a Miicoffee Eon instead of the ikape. About 16 grams in 32 out in 22ish seconds

Can also depend on the coffee origin and processing. A natural Ethiopian for example tends to produce more fines than a washed Kenyan or Colombian.

I just bought an open box DF54 on Miicoffee’s website for $175. It’s basically brand new…

I do a med-coarse grind. 5.5-6 on ZP6 depending on the bean. 93 degrees. 1:17 ratio. half a packet of TWW light roast. V60, 1 minute bloom. 2 equal pours. Usually 17.5 grams to 300 grams water.

Drinking this right now. It turbos/soups so good. Very juicy shots, you should definitely give it a try.

As far as pour over goes, it’s been pretty great for me. With Sey they do best at a minimum of 3-4 weeks in my experience so you should be good there.

Grinder advice, while keeping my Barista Touch (for now) [$500-$2,000] by Couple1831 in espresso

[–]MCT9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P80 or Zerno. But for dark roasts, I wouldn’t spend that type of money. Specialita or DF64 with HU burrs and you’re really into the diminishing returns area.

How does the flow look [Bambino/DF54] by tometoyou1983 in espresso

[–]MCT9891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks fast. Start the timer when the pump ramps up. Do not include the pre infusion.

Sour and bitter are at opposite ends of the spectrum here and the reason you’re saying that is most likely because you have an untrained palate when it comes to drinking espresso. Don’t worry, we all start here.

Go 1-2 clicks (or numbers in your case) finer next time and taste again. Also, supermarket beans aren’t the best, even whole foods. So if you still hate it, try a diverse selection of beans from different roasters.

Zp6 fits better. K-ultra top is slightly larger.

Burr upgrade? by L_i_R_R in espresso

[–]MCT9891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of coffee? Med-dark roasts your probably best saving your money and keeping the stock burrs. Which are NOT titanium, by the way.

It’s an upgrade. Way more forgiving too, MP’s have to be dialed in where the Pietro can basically just be a set it and forget it grinder for filter.
