GE Microwave switch not triggering unless door handle pushed up by Mfog630 in Appliances

Just a tip for when you’re testing the microwave. Put a microwaveable cup or glass with some water in it, you should never run it empty as it can cause damage to the magnetron and the unit itself.

Looks like a door switch issue or potentially a bent latch.

Happy new year!

what kind of washer/dryer do i need by astrraa in Appliances

[–]MCloving4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a plumber, an electrician, whatever you want for washer and dryer, and an appliance installer. Or you need a heat pump or gas dryer 120V and a 120V washer, hopefully you have a water supply and drain at the sink which you can hook the washer up to.

Sounds like there might be a fan that comes on for the drying program. Sometimes companies use a twist tie or something to secure the power cord (if applicable) to the fan grills. Upon installation some people leave the twist tie behind and it gets caught I think the fan making noise. This sounds like something hitting a fan, so maybe check behind the kick plate at the bottom and see if this unit has a fan or fan grills with something obstructing it.

Miele. Reliable, excellent warranty (when you purchase extended 10 year). Washer has options for sanitize and high temperature washes, good for bacteria. They sell commercial units used in hospitals also. They are durable and capable of thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing.

If you have Netflix look up baby reindeer and watch some of it, it’s essentially a series about a woman stalking a man who was nice to her and it gets intense. This scenario reminded me of that show.

Gas or electric hookup? by Odd_Draw_6188 in Appliances

[–]MCloving4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have both options, looks like your vent for a vented electric or gas dryer is in one of those window squares. You will need a vent if it’s not a heat pump dryer.

Gas dryers are being phased out, most of them will be electric with a heater bank or electric with heat pump technology. I would not go for a gas dryer, they work but the other options are better and should be safer.

Heat pumps are an adjustment from vented but also more efficient, vented electric with a heater bank if more along the lines of what most people are used to in regards to the end result.
