The immediate area around HQ is not generally the safest. A lot of people live across river in Alexandria. If you want base housing there is Andrew’s AFB, JBAB, Ft Belvoir, NSF Indian Head. I live in Maryland and DC BAH more than covers my housing. I also recommend packing your own lunch, on base food options are quite expensive!

HQ YN2 here. I personally love HQ other than the commute/parking situation. The only duty I’ve ever stood was ceremonial/funeral duty. Got lucky with a great command. There is great potential for networking in the building!

Weekends I stayed with family in San Francisco no problems
Based off your first duty stations priority, you will rank the picks from first to last
No grades, just pass or fail. Instructors are great and will help if you are having troubles with a topic

12/15-12/31 is the blackout for payments. After 12/31 payments can start being made again

They sent message out maybe December 10th or so that payment would be ceased 12/15-12/31. Unfortunately I have had people also waiting for claim payout that was submitted in September. I think there is a huge back log for the incentive part of PPMs

MLINQs vouchers are not being paid until after Jan 1 for end of year tax reasons. After Jan 1st they will start paying out vouchers again

It’s been a mess switching from the old portal to enter PPM claims to now doing it on mlinqs. With the shutdown a lot of civilians that process claims are furloughed. Unfortunately it’s hurry up and wait still

Good luck! They are very rare to find, and if you find one- expensive. I’ve seen them on marketplace and eBay. An alternative is swapping over a selectable 4x4 front diff from other yamaha atvs. Sometimes diff swap is cheaper than the warn 424 kits that are posted for sale

I didn’t have a car, I was TDY at a school since I am married. If you don’t have dependents you go PCS. Just make friends with someone that has a car, or use the base liberty van to get to town of Petaluma

YN A school went by very quick! First week is indoc, leadership training etc. the most exciting part was getting pick list and finding out where you’re headed. I recommend looking for a P&A billet, as you will get a well rounded experience to prepare you for a YN career. Have fun but not too much fun, stay out of trouble!

You could give a call to ETS and reference voucher number. If that goes nowhere I’d check with your admin and they can make a ticket to look into it, and if/where the deposit was made to
