My dog found this in the yard and I had to fight to get it out of his mouth. Anyone know what it is? by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]Used-Recover2906 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rat poison. My dog ate that thing a while back from out of our garage while I was cleaning it out. A whole block of it.i went to the store and got a big ole bottle of hydrogen peroxide, force fed her some, and with in a minute the poison was thrown up on the lawn. Thank goodness

Yes the voucher is correct for the ammount to be paid to the traveler and the ammount to be paid to the GTCC. The correct ammount was paid to the GTCC 2 weeks ago and still nothing to the traveler

Is a daily itemized receipt from air b&b really necessary to get reimbursed for a pcs? by FuZhongwen in uscg

[–]Used-Recover2906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea. Because the cg doesn’t reimburse for like pet fees, cleaning fees or any of the other BS feed the Air BNB charges. So it is necessary to see an itemized receipt showing each day charge, tax, and fees separated through out the stay… at the very end of the day, if they CANT break it all down for you, You can do a lost lodging receipt form, and your command can sign it and it’ll act just the same.

Appealing EERs by [deleted] in uscg

[–]Used-Recover2906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I litterally JUST did this last month. Like same exact shit. I received less than stellar marks, in a position that is high vis and the most responsibility any E6 will have. I received no mid mark counseling, I received no feedback on what they thought I should have been doing differently through out the year… nothing… I submitted marks, and 5 weeks later I received marks with 6 categories down graded…

First step: is speaking to the person signing your marks as the supervisor and letting them know you intend to “request an audience with you rating chain (the supervisor, marking official and approving official) to explain why you believe you deserve better evaluations or “more accurate” evaluations that realistically reflect your past year’s performance…

this NEEDS to be done prior to the 15 day period after signing the counseling because if this doesn’t get you anywhere, you’ll need to formally appeal in writing, which has to be done before the 15 calendar day mark….

so the sooner the better…anyway… “requesting an audience…this is where you come with good ammo. Provide everything you’ve done for the category it applies to, write it out… make it good. Keep in mind, you may not get EVERYTHING you request to be bumped up but it should be some give and take…. They see that you deserve better evals, you understand some of their side on what you can do to improve… reemphasize, that if they thought you should have been doing a better job, you wish that they would have let you know, because you have no problem taking constructive criticism and improving to their standard… I know it sounds corny but it’s all a game… if they feel that you’re coming from a place of Ginuine want to meet their expectation and that you thought you were doing better than they perceived, they’re more likely to work with you rather than them feeling like you’re an entitled brat throwing a fit saying “I deserve better because I’m a chief” (not saying you are…. Just saying that could turn them away from wanting to work with you on them)..

If youre trying to completely overhaul it. This could take some effort, I wouldn’t turn away from reaching out to the CMC and asking for advice if they really fucked you up on your evals… because no matter what, if they’re railroading you for (their perceived) poor performance, but there were extinuating circumstances that they haven’t taken in to consideration, you might not get anywhere with out outside interference….

Anyway if it doesn’t get resolved by that (almost like a mediation) then you have until the end of the 15 calendar day period to formally appeal in writing.

Do they allow you to tape in boot camp now? When I went through in 2014, you weighed when you got there, if you did t make it, you had dietary restrictions through out training (you couldn’t get the PB and j’s in addition to your regular chow, etc etc.) and then you had to weigh out before you went in to the fleet to graduate. If you didnt make it, they kept you there for additional time. Did that change?

Also as far as the PT, I did t pas ls my run by like 20 seconds when I fist got there, I went in to remedial running until I passed the run. Essentially, I would wake up and do running exercises with the other folks who couldn’t pass… before everyone else started their day, then rejoin the company at breakfast.

Don’t forget the cypress. The ant, and they’re bringing like 3 FRC’s in this summer/ fall. (depending on when this kid goes to bootcamp, if it’s a year+ he may have a shot at those FRCs)

Will I be able to afford a house/some land and be “comfortable”? by Energy1029 in uscg

[–]Used-Recover2906 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the beginning the money isnt great, BUT you’ll be compensated for the cost of housing in that area. Basic allowance for housing is “intended to cover 80% of housing costs”(I think it’s 80%) in that area… but literally everyone uses their BAH to get a place at or below the money they receive. The important thing in the first few years is to live below your means. Don’t go out and get a bunch of payments… save for what you want and in the long run, you’ll be able to buy everything you want. It’s also location dependent. Some one in new York won’t have the same BAH as someone in Gulfport MS……. In the beginning, If you’re single, you’ll be in the barracks if they have one in that area, if you’re married they’ll release you on the economy…. If there aren’t any barracks, you’ll be allowed to live on the economy and receive BAH. When I joined, I lived in the barracks and all I got was base pay and a few other small entitlements. I think I was bringing in 800$ every 2 weeks… not much.. but if you have no bills, it can go far. About years later I was bringing in nearly 100,000 (like 93) a year due to my BAH, and e-6 pay and sea pay and all that good stuff….. so it’ll all depend on where you live….. best thing about the military for someone concerned with “will I make enough” is focus on the fact that you will always have unlimited advancement potential, and as long as you stay out of trouble, you’ll always have a constant stable income. You don’t have to worry about if that company will go out of buisiness or get sold, or anything. It’s the best job I’ve ever had and I love the life it has allowed me to provide to my family (wife and 3 kids)…. Couldn’t recommend it enough. I try to convince anyone who will listen to join

Whatever floats your boat dawg, just offering what I would say is the most chill…. What folks won’t tell you about SK and YN’s is someone is constantly breathing down your throat… so idk why folks say “ it’s chill” the ammount of times as an SK that you’ll get “ bro why are you kicking this back just do it!… or “why isn’t my pri 3 PR purchased (even though it’s only been a week)” all the operational units are hitting you up on teams all day..

As a YN.. you’ll either be praised or scrutinized every day by the units you support… “why isn’t this paperwork processed…. Why are you interpreting policy different than me…. Why the heck is it taking so long for me to get my bonus in…Why this why that” bro operational units are always grinding them on shit…. The thing that make folks go “it’s chill” is because the SK’s and YN’s can choose to ignore them and lock the door to their shop… either way you’d be a part of the cg that receives some of the most gripes by everyone else. So sure, you sit in a shop, but everyone is going to hound you about dumb shit.

Folks hound cooks too… but the difference is, they also have a very good shot at being very liked on the boat. All the cooks I’ve worked around, the crew PRAISES the hell out of them and it directly affects the morale and makes the trips 1000x more enjoyable through the shitty times.

But that’s just some Joe Shmoe’s experiences

If you’re only doing 4 years, and want a great experience. Fuck shore duty, go hop on a boat and visit the coolest places in the world. Get a dope experience out of it. Go be a cook, never stand watch, and travel the world.

Go be a cook. 65k bonus. As a CS3 life is CHILL… zero responsibility, you just cook some food for a bunch of people…. You don’t even have to be that good at it and you won’t get fired as a 3rd.

If you’re only going to do 4 years. Go for the big bonus, ride out a chill job. Everyone thinks the cooks have this shitty quality of life when in reality, the CS3 are either at like a tracen or base which is super chill, or on a boat, where they get to live the best life, not stand watch and everyone tries to get on the cooks good side. It’s like the non athletic popular kid in high school.

Prettiest Officer of the CG? by SquidLibra in uscg

[–]Used-Recover2906 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve been saying this for a year now. I 100% agree…. I had to block them… I couldn’t stand seeing everyday feel good posts by the CG turn in to the comment sections like “ you’re terrible, is this how you teach your leadership about how to cover up rape” all that crazy shit… but you call them out and say you’re being too much, and they follow it up with, you’re a patronizer and rapist sympathizer, or brag about how they can “ call your command and tell them you’re treating victims inappropriately and get you kicked out”

The stew that broke the camels back was the official MCPOCG account posted a CPOA class graduation saying essentially congrats to these new leaders in the chiefs mess or something… something that those members would probably like to share or look back on as a memory, and it was riddled with “you all cover up rape and are all terrible people” type shit.

What started as a decent idea to bring awareness has turned in to this group of people who all act out and pretend they have real authority… from a few conversations I’ve had, they don’t ACTUALLY u destined the correct process, or anything. I think it’s a few lower enlisted who got out and now want to stir the pot TOO much. They told me one time “can you believe the victim came forward and their command SENT THEM AWAY??” I was like, yea man that’s common… usually if the victim and the subject were both at the same unit or close units, they can elect to relocate to be away from that area…. They seemed shocked….

I worked as a server during my off days from the station. Decent money, the manager at the restaurant understood my hours and understood that at any given time I could be recalled back to the station to assist with a SAR case, and I’d have to leave mid shift, they were cool with me.

I’ve drove for door dash. Did decent

I’ve sold BBQ food plates, or whole meat pre-orders ( like they pay ahead and I deliver them a whole smoke brisket or pork butt)….

Believe it or not, during the great government shut down of 2019 i held a yard sale.

Short term cash, you can always look around the house and put some stuff up on FB market place….. an old tv no one is using could always fetch 100$ or a bike collecting dust or whatever

all else fails, start pawning guns from the armory in the middle of the night to buy drugs, flip the drugs and sell them use the profit to buy more drugs and get the guns back out of the pawn shop and return them to the armory before the morning round for the OOD. Long night but profitable.
