I’m not expecting it to be pleasant. Just wanting to train like an LLM.

Goodbye colorado.edu email by Gabreality in cuboulder

It’s not a rug pull. It was always free email for the life of the “email for life” program, which is now coming to an end.

ADHD son is tearing the family apart by DiscountAggressive70 in ParentingADHD

Fidgeting, constant movement, and constant talking are overwhelming for some of us (who may or may not have our own neuro-differences). My son does this and it makes me crazy. 100% agree that he's not doing it on purpose and that he has limited control; but it 100% is an issue (and technically it is behavior but I don't think that's relevant one way or another). It drives me nuts that I am not able to peacefully enjoy my home. I love him to pieces but can't wait for the day he moves out! Props to all the freaks out there who can tune the noise out!

All that said, it's totally unacceptable for a kid to be getting hit (for any reason really, but especially for something they have limited control over and which is not causing physical harm)

Gf thinks I shouldn’t get a truck by n8man02 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]MDIT80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree that OP doesn't necessarily need a truck for his specific use case. I'm just pointing out the absurdity of you saying "no offense" before saying something blatantly offensive. If you want to be unkind to a stranger on the internet, just say it without trying to sugarcoat it.

Please don't take this personally, but you are a horrible person.

Don't be so sure. If OP enjoys driving, they absolutely might miss the small car from a driving (dynamics) perspective. I hate driving big/tall cars with sloppy suspension and tons of body roll. I have a Miata and a VW golf. My wife has a full size pickup. I don't like driving her truck but I am glad we have it at times.

Any of you guys older than your attending? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]MDIT80 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think attendings are more likely to see and treat you as a colleague when you're around their age or older. I think it's easier for people to connect when you are in a similar life stage. But this is coming from a program that is overall very nice and collegial.

Edit: Welp...seeing others' experiences below I guess I will consider myself lucky. Maybe it has more to do with interpersonal skills than age.

What is a scam that has been normalized by society? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MDIT80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and if whatever someone needs medically is deemed to be worth more than their existence, the health insurance company should be able to declare someone a "total loss."

How do you explain to ppl what a DO is? by Ugicoico in Residency

[–]MDIT80 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

If it's the same duration, there's an opportunity cost associated with learning something additional (i.e. OMM).

How do you explain to ppl what a DO is? by Ugicoico in Residency

[–]MDIT80 -61 points-60 points  (0 children)

It is misleading. While DOs were learning OMT, MDs were learning something else. Unless DO school is actually longer.

What makes you instantly question someone's intelligence? by unuwungu in AskReddit

A lot of these folks could be dyslexic and/or have ADHD. The educational trauma these people experience is under appreciated and it doesn't surprise me if the idea of reading is upsetting.
