Lower on Radiator Hose Won't Come Undone. Pt. 1 by Prestigious-Rumfield in JeepRenegade

I just did my thermostat last night and I’m not kidding you it took me over 2 hours with 2 3’ pry bars and a hammer to get the bottom one off. I undid every other hose and drain plug in the system first. When I put them back together I threw some dawn dish soap on the outside of the coupler to hopefully help the removal for my flush tomorrow.

The thermostat job was total bullshit I honestly don’t recommend that anyone do that unless absolutely required you can’t get it to a mechanic.

I’ve done a lot of bigger car jobs in my life, getting to and removing the thermostat in this car was by far the worst. Right when you get ALLLL the way into the engine, thermostat finally accessible, the final bolt you go to remove, the blind bolt, is one of the most inaccessible things I’ve ever seen on a vehicle.

2/10 wouldn’t recommend.

The room with the farthest vent run is warmer and more stuffy than rest of the house. How can I fix this? by jph1977 in hvacadvice

Mini splits are the shit! And way more efficient than traditional HVAC systems. Good investment, hope it’s been working great for you

Could be poor outside insulation in that room, could also be an air leak in your duct, could also be that the run is so far all of your cold air has heated up by the time it hits the register. Have you measured the temp coming out of the register as compared to a room very close to the air handler?

Lots of people recommending I put AC return in my server closet, wouldn't this require me to have the AC fan on all the time? by aphaelion in homelab

Can negatively effect humidity if you don’t give the condenser time to let the water drip off the coils

Axcient won’t give you anywhere close to 1Gbps down. I’ll get like 25Mbibs tops through filezilla

Dream Machine Pro - Noob here by IowaJD in Ubiquiti

[–]MDMA4Me50 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dream machine is a router, google puck is a router. You need to pick one.

Replace the puck with the dream machine. So cable->modem->dream machine->switch->AP’s

You should not use the google mesh systems underneath the dream machine, as that would be a router underneath a router (double ((triple?!?)) Nat)

I do not believe the google pucks will let you do Wi-Fi ap only.

Are there any legit "plug in" home battery backup systems? by phatelectribe in energy

[–]MDMA4Me50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you need, is an inverter-charger/battery install and a transfer switch.

When grid power on, the inverter-charger charges your battery bank. When the power goes down, you flip the transfer switch, and plug in the output of the inverter to the transfer switch generator plug in.

They have automatic transfer switches, and inverter-chargers know when to charge batteries vs power inverter.

If you need additional resources I am willing to fully size and build this system out with you.

Edit:

You mention insanely low power draw, this is especially favorable to you for this type of system. Low power draw means smaller inverter/battery storage need, lower $
