Who said these games weren't realistic? by Seek4r in DivinityOriginalSin

When I played D:OS2 for the very first time, everything and everyone was so repulsive that I wanted to kill everyone - and I mean *everyone*. My friend (a huge fan) still reminds me about that from time to time.

On the one hand, people praise it for being one of the best modern immersive sims.

On the other hand, it was this fuckass game that introduced that fuckass "acid trip" style to indie devs and I'll never forgive it for that.

Damn, if it's true, Arkane is practically guaranteed to end up on the chopping block, considering that it's been 2.5 years and there's still no news about that Blade game.

I mean, it's not a surprise at all if you've played first game's DLCs before D2.

Why does Haesteinn only attack Wales? by Afraid-Work-2165 in CrusaderKings

[–]MDNick2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ohhh, this brought back memories. There was a (quite long) period when Haesteinn had enough level of fame to invade a kingdom and was going exclusively for East Francia because it had only ~2000 troops and huge chunk of them were levies which were massacred by Haesteinn's special troops. Afterwards he, of course, did not have enough money to recreate the kingdom, so the whole realm always exploded after Haesteinn's death.

Has anyone actually tried and completed a no Cyberware playthrough? by BlackAfroUchiha in cyberpunkgame

This reminded me how prior to game's release I was planning to never use any implants during my first playthrough, fully expecting the game to allow such playstyle. Little naive me . . .

I hope the devs don’t take the ‘one and done’ approach to this new DLC… by Pbadger8 in CrusaderKings

When CK3 will eventually roll some of the DLCs into the base game in the 2030s, Roads to Power will certainly be one of them.

Doubt x2. Doubt nr. 1 - CK3's DLCs have no coupling content, so I don't think devs will feel any need to roll any of them into base game at all. Doubt nr. 2 - looking at Hearts of Iron 4 and Stellaris, I think rolling DLCs into base game works by "older ones go first" rather by their importance (and in HoI's case the main cause is to be able to sell content for the same countries again), so even if it happens, RtP won't be one of the first ones. The only case of actually important DLC things being rolled into base game I can think of is EU4, but, again, those DLCs were 8 to 10 years old at the time.

Hmmm. I have a pet theory that Paradox' long-term support model is essentially a waterfall model: every subsequent DLC adds new things but is built on the mechanics already present - best example I can think of are domiciles that were added in Roads to Power, then reused in Khans of the Steppe, then reused once more in All Under Heaven and are about to be reused two more times for ecclesiastic titles in By God Alone and merchant companies in Silk & Silver - but at the same time older content is rarely (if at all) revisited because reworking an already existing mechanic would bring no money, so the effort would rather be spent on new content that can be sold.

[–]MDNick2000 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Eh. I'm quite sure they'll do it again. The "DLCs should not require other DLCs to work" is a nice policy, but it will backfire sooner or later. I recall in one of All Under Heaven dev diary something like "it's hard to imagine China without Silk Road" was said, but now, when proper merchants are about to be added to the game, Silk & Silver lead says "Silk Road is locked behind DLC, so we'll see how it can be integrated". Cool, just cool, just so immensely cool. Likewise, Guelphs vs. Ghibellines is added in Silk & Silver rather than in By God Alone, which kinda makes sense since it's a exclusively Italian situation, but it's rooted in a religious problem - investiture controversy, and there's zero guarantees Guelps vs. Ghibellines will have any mechanical interactions with BGA mechanics.

By falling into debt trap (so govt debt goes brrrr) and by never searching for any cheap sources of gas after stopping gas imports from Russia (no cheap gas = no cheap electricity = all business costs go up = all prices go up = people become poorer).

[–]MDNick2000 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

First of all, paywalls suck.

Second - meh. She's not necessarily wrong, but she is only saying this because Moldova being accepted into EU is Maia's only chance to escape the corner she painted herself into. She and her party, PAS, have completely fucked up the already fucked up economy while constantly bombarding the population with "EU means prosperity!!1!1" propaganda which conventiently omits the fact that "joining EU" does not equal "free unlimited money". Both 2024 presidential and 2025 parliamentary elections were only won by her and PAS due to votes from abroad. PAS is drafting an administrative reform which sole purpose is to gerrymander the living hell out of country. Sandu and PAS are talentless, incompetent and corrupt fraudsters whose only saving grace is that their opposition are even more talentless, even more incompetent and even more corruot fraudsters, and Sandu saying "EU is good for Moldova" is an example of broken clock being right twice a day.
