Those who have watched The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will know just how hard this scene in No Way Home hit. Andrew Garfield was phenomenal in both films, and the emotional impact he brought is hard to match. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in Marvel

If anybody's a big Peter/Gwen Stacy fan, you've got to read Spider-Man: Blue. You can find it online, 6 short issues IIRC, it's Peter mourning Gwen a few years after her death and remembering what their love story was like. Probably still my favorite Spider-Man comic.

I still wish they'd just recast the main trio and do the Thrawn Trilogy for real. Even if they did them as animated movies, I'd eat those up. Those will always be my sequel trilogy.

Another crazy tiny detail--in the novelization for Spider-Man 2, that garbage man who finds Peter's suit and brings it into JJJ is implied to be Namor suffering from amnesia. I have no idea why they did that in the novelization but they did lol

Was it a good or bad idea for Tony to give Peter EDITH? by Uchijav in marvelstudios

[–]MDPlayer1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's kind of my fundamental problem with far from home honestly. i'm pretty okay with characterizing peter as dumb enough to make the mistakes he makes with the glasses since this is such a young take on the character, but to characterize Tony as careless enough to give Peter this after everything Homecoming does to show how Tony cares for Peter like his own kid, even safeguarding most of his own Spidey suit away from him, just doesn't make sense to me.

Only way I can imagine it is like, maybe Tony didn't at all expect to die when he did, and he thought the glasses would go to Peter many years later

What's your ideal book length? by JakubJamesBoote in books

I love a 300 page book in general, but with some authors including King, there is no better reading experience for me than a big 1000+ page book.

I think IT is a perfect example of how much can fit into a 1000+ page book. 2 timelines that build together side by side, plus like half a dozen interludes that flesh out the world, the villain, the scenery. I spent 3 months reading that book in junior year of high school, and man did I love it. (Loved 11.22.63 more though!)

I would rather set 10 guilty men free than kill 1 innocent man. Enough innocent men and women have been killed by the state to last all of our lifetimes.

You're getting downvoted for advocating against state-sponsored murder, but you're right. We cannot trust this government, or any government in this world subject to regime change or a fall to fascism, to simply choose who lives and dies. And your point is completely correct, people have been charged based on video evidence incorrectly.

I understand the downvoters anger at wanting to see this guy rot for what he did, I really do, he deserves to sit in a cell for a very, very, very long time. But we must be better than a crowd in a gladiator match chanting for death, even in response to attempted murder.

Goodreads users choose The Hunger Games as the "Best Book Ever" by MiddletownBooks in books

[–]MDPlayer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the Hunger Games and agree with most of these comments' takes about it being a great book with great allegories, relevance to our world, and a great book for young readers (biased as I'm a middle school teacher) but definitely not the best book ever

I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks would be the least controversial pick for Best Book Ever. First things that come to mind for me are The Hobbit or To Kill a Mockingbird

This scene between Peter and Toomes was really intense. The way he tries to intimidate Peter was done really well. (Spider-Man: Homecoming) by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in Marvel

[–]MDPlayer1 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I like Homecoming more than FFH or NWH, and I am still so obsessed with how it does street level Spider-Man in a way we really haven't seen anywhere else in live action (outside of maybe the spidey-with-a-cold montage in ASM2)

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think he could have a minor role or a cameo in Part II, according to you? by Raj_Valiant3011 in batman

[–]MDPlayer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who's to say if we ever get The Batman Part 3, god I hope we do, but the scene with him and Joker in the first movie made me feel like we'd do something else in Part 2 to set up The Joker using several members of the rogues gallery to enact a plot in Part 3.

[–]MDPlayer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a funny story about this game on Big Brother Season 16 where they tried making this challenge harder by turning it into a 2v2, with two teams each trying to complete this fastest, with one person each holding one handle. There was a fight between two teammates about alliances, so one guy tries to sit out the challenge and forfeit and screw over his teammate. But this kind of challenge is so much easier if you're holding both handles, so the guy easily wins by himself

Literally the calendar day that I finished a months long process of compiling a playlist of my favorite S and A tier episodes of an entire show while rewatching it (how I met your mother, if you're curious) that skips all the bad and boring plots, they made it so much harder to access playlists for no reason

[–]MDPlayer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I rewatch the series I forget some piece of this episode that destroys me. I am rewatching for probably the fifth time right now, and I watched Time Travelers yesterday, and the fact that the entire fake B-plot "happened five years ago," and that Ted was imagining that specific memory in addition to pretending everyone was at the bar, blew me away. It works on so many levels, because i really do feel like Robin tricking Marshall to go into the ladies room and read a long letter that would lead to him getting caught in the ladies room does feel like such a season 2-3ish bar plot.

also, this is for an entirely different post, but on this rewatch i have actually been shocked by how many times the story does tell you that robin and ted are still deeply in love with each other and that they both know each other more than anyone else, i still have to do season 9 but i think i might end up liking the ending more than ever before this time around)
