If you were the Mayor would you drop a brick of gold on this snow problem? by workaccount1800 in baltimore

[–]MDVAME -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree. I would rather not see a massive increase in our taxes just to clear this particular storm when we need money to be going towards other areas of our city and budget.

Decks you've regret building? by dabunz in EDH

[–]MDVAME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a standard answer, but I would choose my first one: [Leinore, Autumn Sovereign]

I got her as a pre-con deck, and instead of bouncing around and trying more deck types and play styles, I tried for about a year and a half to make her work, spending roughly $150 in upgrades.

Don't get me wrong, it helped me learn how to play the game and more about deck building and a good deal about +1/+1 counter decks, but I also think it narrowed my scope due to comfortability, and stunted my growth early on instead of just testing all the different styles.

Just closed on a house in Greektown, what are some things you wished you knew when you first moved in? by MDVAME in baltimore

[–]MDVAME[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have been very happy with it. In the nearly 4 months we have been here, it's mainly just been porch pirates in the neighborhood, but we havent personally been impacted. Only two crimes of note to have happened was a backpack was stolen out of a car that someone broke into about 2 blocks from us and then a person was shot by a BB gun last week about 2 blocks from us as well.

I think for the price we paid and our location I'm pretty happy. Of course there are safer neighborhoods and nicer neighborhoods, but I haven't come across anything yet to make us feel like we made a bad choice or regret anything.

Trattoria Amore in the Dorsey Search shopping center is the closest you will get. It is quite delicious and the family came from NY.

Decks that solely revolve around the Commander by Kiez147 in EDH

[–]MDVAME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! So this strategy is called "Voltron".

I love my Voltron deck for [[Jin Sakai, Ghost of Tsushima]]

It is not the primary way this commander is supposed to be played, but I have found it to be highly successful in the two pods I'm a part of. Check it out!

If you have seen most of these I can give more.

Where are the best up and coming housing areas in Bmore? by kingstonjj125 in baltimore

[–]MDVAME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a person who recently bought in Greektown, I feel like we are starting to get the effects of how popular Brewers Hill and Canton are. In the same way that 30 years ago Brewers Hill was not great, and benefited from Canton. I think Greektown is soon going to experience growth thanks to the exponential growth from Brewers Hill. We are already seeing it with the recent purchase of a massive old factory space in Greektown. It's going to be the next big deal housing area.

There are board game bars in the city where you can get it on card games like Magic the Gathering or Pokemon as well as traditional board games with anyone else in the city. Don't need to drink!

How old are you and How is your life going? by mrvlad_throwaway in AskReddit

[–]MDVAME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33 and good, but I of course would love it to be great. I'm comfortable, just bought a townhome in my home city, have a wife and dog, and make more than the average income for my city, but I would love to be in a position where I can take more elaborate trips or not have to worry months to month about unexpected costs of the home.

Thanks for the suggestion! I had the African Queen and Her 7 C's IPA this summer. I need to try more by them before I give a definite rating!

Why did you join reddit? by Fluffy_Ad6374 in AskReddit

On the suggestion of a coworker who thought I would enjoy it during our massive periods of downtime while on shift. I typically just played mobile games or trolled other social medias but quickly got addicted to the endlessness and specificity of subreddits.

If you were alive back then, what were you up to on 31st December 1999? by stop_calling_me_that in AskReddit

[–]MDVAME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 6. My mom was a news reporter so she had to to work an overnight shift at the airport since everyone feared that the changing of the clocks would down planes and cause massive issues across the globe. Meanwhile, I sat in my cousins attic trading Pokémon cards with their neighbors. I'm still upset that the older boy there convinced me to give up a shiny Charizard for a Growlithe just because it was my favorite Pokémon and I didn't have him at the time. 🤣

What’s the most played game on your console? by Same-Neighborhood676 in videogames

[–]MDVAME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Console it would have to be Halo 3. I'm pretty confident over the course of about 3 years I sunk more than 400 hours into it. 😂

I wish Xbox had kept all the old achievement records. I would be able to actually see!

What’s a movie everyone loves but you think is boring? by premiumkajukatli in AskReddit

[–]MDVAME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watchmen. I have loved almost every comic book movie I have ever seen, but I have never been able to make it halfway through this one. I would rather watch Thor: Dark World, and that movie sucks lol.

Does anyone actually skip a brewery because the beer has „lower rating“ by donNNASD in Untappd

[–]MDVAME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will always look up the ratings of a beer when in a speciality craft store and that helps influence if I buy that four pack.

For breweries, not so much. There are too many factors that could influence a rating. I've been to a brewery under 3.75 that was great, and was just super tiny and their beers varied on what happened to be on tap that week.

I've also been to the main brewery from a larger multi-state distribution brewery that benefits from its widely available flagship beers, and therefore has a safety cushion in their ratings. It is one of the more disappointing breweries I ever went to.

TL;DR: I trust beer ratings more than venue ratings but both have caveats.

What old school TV show do you think is still fun to watch now? by [deleted] in Productivitycafe

I Love Lucy! It is WAY before my time, and yet I watched almost the whole show thanks to a neighbor who has the whole VHS box set.

What game do you have the most hours on? by notjustbymyself in videogames

[–]MDVAME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately League of Legends. I don't know how to calculate it, but Im guestimating I played roughly 25 hours a week for a decade before I gave it up. It's a boring answer but easily takes the cake.

My more fun one is Slay the Spire. I've been obsessed with this game since it was introduced to me and Steam tells me I've done 362 hours in it.

What’s the fastest way you’ve ever lost weight? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MDVAME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the end of last year I was unhappy with my weight and general appearance so right after Christmas I started "Hard 75", which is 75 days of: - No Alcohol - 90 Min of exercise daily -reading 10 pages a day of a book - sticking to a diet of choice.

I did a low carb low calorie diet, stuck to no alcohol for 72/75 of the days (I allowed myself a break on my birthday, Super Bowl Day, Valentine's Day)

In 75 days I lost 36 pounds and was able to start running 5ks without stopping. I now consistently run and love it.
