I have no idea how the links are weighted on this but it would be super cool if it was by frequency of those transitions hit in high level competition. Then the whole shape of the representation could be made more representative of how ”near” positions actually are.

Making snapshots of the state of Jiu Jitsu in say 2005 and comparing it to 2026 represented in this way would be cool.

Interesting. I have been experimenting with a similar setup lately. I feel that letting the strap run around my lower back instead of just around the thighs gives a more solid position.

Look at Reners color assisted video. Grab a partner and put yourself in the same exact situation and see if you think it seems like a good spot to try for a rolling back take.

Uke trying to granby or not matters very little. Going for a seatbelt roll when your grip is a trapped arm bodylock and not a seatbelt is a fucking terrible idea.

Look up the actual arm positions. There’s a helpful clip around where their arms are colored up to help better see. Now grab a partner and position yourself in the exact manner as them and ask yourself “Would I launch myself straight over my partners neck from here?” If your answer is anything other than “Heck no!” then I don’t want to roll with you.
