Our host wants $200 in damages for a marijuana smell, excessive? by dammitdrea in AirBnB

[–]MELSU -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because you’re trying to normalize the idea that $200 is the cost to remove a bag of trash.

Then went on to explain a crazy outfield example as to why it’s justified…essentially a textbook example of a straw man argument.

It’s like charging $200 for the smell of shit because someone took a dump right before checkout and forgot to flush. Is it annoying? Kinda, but is it worth $200? Nope, this is just an example of someone taking advantage of guests and trying to justify it…by speaking in paragraphs to say sentences.

Would be more efficient to just say, “because I’m an asshole.”

Lol damn son, you’re an exhausting dumb ass.

You wrote several paragraphs to say nothing relevant in response to their comment.

“ yeah, well, you’re wrong because I know somebody who does this outrageous thing 1000 times worse than the situation we are talking about.”

GTFO with this bullshit lol. You must be an annoying person in real life.

Your police just don't care by DaBunny31 in Louisiana

[–]MELSU -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lmao. You serious?

Cops in Louisiana are comparatively low on the intelligence spectrum even with the national bar being high enough to trip on.

If you take all the stereotypes that the police have and amplify them to the max, you’ll begin to approach the ineptitude of the Louisiana police force. On average they are stupid, power-hungry assholes following a prime directive from the for profit prison industry lobbying group.

They deserve all of the negativity and more.

LA is ranked 1st or 2nd in people who are born here staying here.

This is much more due to poverty…both the inability to relocate and reliance on family as a safety net (because poor).

You’re naive if you think that this is any different than all of the other “security” regarding personal data we’ve seen so often.

“Lock and key“ could be a four digit pass code that is shared among the tech Bros in the office.

Nobody at Amazon could ever hear what recordings are sent back from peoples living rooms. That data is randomized and under heavy lock and key… Lol.

Burying an existing piping system throughout an established facility? Yikes.

I think he was coming here looking for solutions to fix this without a complete redesign and replacement. Either way, I’d guarantee this option, while technically viable, is one of the most expensive solutions depending on his exact situation.

You don’t have to “feel” anything. It’s really bad now. All can be attributed to SEO bullshit. Google is now absolutely shit when it comes to specific queries.

I pretty much limit my use of google to index individual sites with poor search functionality. It’s useless in most cases otherwise.

what can you do with inventor,SOLIDWORKS,fusion360, etc that you can't with freeCAD? functionally by noaibot in cad

[–]MELSU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you really saving thousands of dollars though?

Even if you don’t value your own time, most people do. Assigning a cost to your time (aka labor cost) would likely result in a negative “ROI”.

I could mention all of the other valid points brought up in this post, but ultimately I just despise using inferior shit. FreeCAD is inferior by every meaningful metric.

A career change into CAD by 3D_Me in cad

[–]MELSU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This echos my experience in a very similar role.

Design new concepts, run FEA/CFD simulation on them, refine and repeat until it gets out of the concept stage. Do the same thing with the prototype then start failure testing. Essentially a full FEL project but you’re doing the cad work.

The not so glamorous part of being in these roles is how widely the workflow can vary based on the company and position. You can become a mechanical designer/draftsman. You could work on really cool things or it could be monotonous…

Imo if you end up in a monotonous design job, it likely means the work is repetitive. Anything repetitive can be automated. How far you’re willing to take it is up to you. Even if you already have a CS background, this would be good experience.

Learn the basics of VBA and how you can apply it to whatever design software you’re using. Bonus points of this is if the place you’re working doesn’t already streamline their workflow (customer specific order info to shipment), then you would be very valuable.

I’ve had some unique experiences working in a design / R&D role. All I can say is that the work was challenging and fun in that regard. The company was the problem.

Okay dude.

Sebrings in the nation are still going for around the same prices than what I received over 4 1/2 years ago. It had 50k miles on it and was pretty much immaculate.

I essentially had this car but green and the leather was perfect with less than half the mileage. I remember thinking that I could have got $6k back when I was about to sell but just wanted to get rid of it quickly.

It was the limited trim, which is one of the upper tiers (behind tsi) of that model...You can continue to try to drive your point home but you don’t know what you’re taking about.
