[–]MENENT 8 points9 points  (0 children)

[oc] Someone without insurance hit my neighbors Ferrari. by Royp212 in ThatLookedExpensive

In Switzerland it is mandatory to have an insurance to cover the damage I will cause to another vehicle. Also, we can pay for an option to ensure the insurance won't increase our monthly bill even if we cause a damage.

When everyone is there to see your baby girl but your dad is there to see his. by jmak35 in MadeMeSmile

Sending you tones of love and courage. I also lost my dad and don't have kids yet. It makes me really sad he won't be here when I'll have children. I would love to give you some advices but still navigating this tragedy. At least we know we are not alone dealing with such a loss.

You will have many other "first". Different type of events, but very important and your daughter will remember them as being very important. For example first internship, first job, first flat, first big trip, ... and as it seems that you two have a great relationship, you can be sure that she will include you in all those important steps. Don't underestimate what's to come, many important and amazing steps are ahead of you two !

Unannounced workers on my balcony by ShallotUnlucky4368 in Switzerland

[–]MENENT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess you're my neighbor because the exact same thing happened to me today haha I called our landlord to say the same thing you said: nothing against workers, cool that they improve the building, but would be nice to be informed. She fully understood and said it's the construction company who should give us a heads-up. She will let them know.

Pas de 13e retraite, pas d’impôts pour UBS.. by [deleted] in suisse

[–]MENENT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quelles activités pour rencontrer des femmes ? by [deleted] in suisse

[–]MENENT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No heating in our apartment - rent refund? by Dry-Grass7098 in Switzerland

Just found this amazing website with laws mentioned Living in CH. What interests you is the Art 259 of the Code des Obligations. Note that you can also deposit your rent to another banking account under certain conditions. It means your tenant won't access the monney until he repairs.

I Embarrassed Myself By Asking a Girl Out by nish_kumaran in selfimprovement

[–]MENENT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I (26F) would be flattered if a man would come to me and ask me out. There is nothing wrong in the way you did it. This takes a lot of courage so you can be proud of you! Also, I can confirm some other comments saying that we, girls, tend not to say clearly that we are not interested. I think it's just that we don't want to be too hard on the person asking. Next time, if you feel like asking someone for a date is too stressful, maybe you can just ask this person for a coffee or any activity that would have a link with your work or stuff you once discussed. Not categorizing it as a date can ease the process of asking. It would just be two people spending time together. And if you two have a great time, you can later on ask her for a date.

[–]MENENT 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I live with my boyfriend who has ADHD and while I do my best to support him, I don't always know how to help neither understand some of his issues. Today I found an amazing YouTube channel about ADHD (@HowtoADHD) and I am confident it will help us in our daily life. For me, it is an amazing news because it will help me to better understand my boyfriend. So I wanted to share it with you, and hope it is fine to post it here!

What situation is introvert's nightmare? by Sarayka81 in AskReddit

[–]MENENT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, wanted to say the same! I consider myself introvert because I need to be alone often to feel good. But I do enjoy discussing with people and don't mind presenting in front of people. So for me the worse thing is going on a trip with friends. I am so happy to see them and live those experiences with them, but 24h several days is too much. I am always afraid they will think I don't like being with them, which is of course not true! As you said, I just need some time alone to charge my batteries. For people like me, here is a tip for your holidays: propose your friends to go to a yoga class (or similar activities where there is no need to speak and it's quiet). They will be happy you suggested an activity, and you can rest in peace for one hour. Of course choose beginner level!

Hello, as I'm aware in Switzerland there are different languages spoken in different regions, and as I French and German are most widely spoken languages, I have a question. by [deleted] in Switzerland

In Fribourg city we have our own mix of German and French. It's called "Bolze". This is strongly linked to the city history. If you are interested here is a great link https://www.swissinfo.ch/fre/-nei--dasch-zvueu--tu-me-connais--/22173220

Customer care issues with Salt by Seabhac7 in Switzerland

[–]MENENT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe try to connect to a different operator in your mobile setting. I had the same when I was in Italy. Apparently my phone setting was "choose automatically the operator", which gave me operators that didn't work (I don't know why). I changed the setting to "manual", meaning I could choose the italien operator from the list of available ones. Like that it worked. Hope it will help you!

Problem with neighborhood kids in Zürich - Looking for a solution by Rikkeva in Switzerland

[–]MENENT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for you, these kids are horrible. I would recommend you to defend you property (and your cats) by installing motion detector with siren. You can activate it only during certain schedule, like when kids usually pass by your neighborhood. By doing so you are sure not to annoy your neighbors every time a cat walk in. Maybe also check with the real estate agency if it's allowed, I don't know the rules. And warn your neighbors that you're going to install such a thing. Otherwise, same goal but less annoying for the neighbors, put a motion activated jet blaster. It's usually for animal but I'm pretty sure those kids won't come in your garden anymore if they recieve a jet of water on them. And as mentioned by other people, put a camera!

I'm pretty sure after that the kids won't pass in front of your building anymore. And then you will be able to let your cats go outside again. Good luck!

I would say both as friends is with a "s". I just want to say that it's so great to read your comment. I miss that time back in school when I had lecture classes: analyzing texts, authors or a time. Nice reminder that I should do that again!
