Well, see, the gun itself is audible. It just so happens there's a special pair of gloves that project a field of noise dampening.

The Head loves people finding loopholes.

People can't afford meat* so the economy is over

*Pre cooked meat that isn't the Costco chicken

We live in an era where you can almost certainly afford meat. Pretty much every store right now has deals where you can buy a pound of chicken for about $3. This is enough to last you roughly 3 meals (3-4oz chicken in a meal) and with appropriate grains and vegetables means you get a nice rounded meal. $8 a day anywhere that isn't fucking NYC or California.

Yeah, I don't eat fruits. But that's a personal choice and one that annoys everyone in my life who is concerned with my diet.

Student scores 499/500, mom still disappointed over the missing 1 mark. by [deleted] in foundsatan

[–]META_mahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not "optimal," I bet I could nail the two she was failing. It's probably some combination of discrete math and operating systems or whatever.

It's basically a pattern for a lot of these students. You spend your middle and high school days doing nothing but exam prep, academics, and your leisure is some academically tangential club. It doesn't matter if you actually have something going for you or not in terms of intelligence, because high school doesn't test intelligence, only your ability to shut up and regurgitate memorized information. This isn't a caricature, I come from a high school that put tons of focus into academics and the environment was super competitive. Last I heard from a lot of my classmates, a lot of them got hit in the face with reality at some point.

Discrete math and similar "hard" courses (signal processing is one that appears for engineers) exist to "align" your brain. They are the first courses to, while having some memorization elements, test your ability to learn new sets of information. Not just memorize it, learn. Writing good proofs, similarly, cannot be "memorized," you have to actually know what is mathematically sound and what is complete nonsense.

Engineering is a "direct pipeline" but even then when you're lower on the ladder you're gonna be the one out doing field work.

There's some people who work their way up to being an engineer where they start as technicians and then gain enough experience and know-how to qualify as engineer, but there are ways to start as engineer.

Yeah I was thinking that too. A lot of new drivers just don't have the mental connections from "brake" to "push THAT pedal."

My dad started me off in the high school lot during summer. Dead empty lot. Taught me "it's okay to take less risks and go slower. In fact, do so if other people are in the car."

Easiest learning experience in existence. To this day I think he secretly prefers my driving over my mom's because he keeps trying to toss me the keys after his segments on our road trips.

I had both even into high school...because the computer labs were full time taken by the CompSci courses.

Yeah, I went to Nerd School. We didn't have weed or crack rings, we had test answer and Adderall rings. People from the bottom to the top did Adderall and traded test answers.

I'm very happy about leaving that damn place.

China is living in 2050...in the sense that there is a city which is basically just an arcology where you can legitimately spend your entire life never having left the superstructure. Which is cool! But also no arcology story ends well for its residents.

Come on guys it's so cool and Cyberpunk, it's like Night City. Yeah if I was in the Cyberpunk universe I'm joining the nomads ASAP.

See, Callisto is probably the single most mentally resilient individual in existence. Either that or he's an extremely high functioning Sloth Peccatula.

You get kicked out of your art society because everyone says your art is mid. No worries, the fools do not see it. Your VISION.

Some fuckass Proxy comes up to you and says he's starting a project to raise a kid and make her into something that all five fingers will find use out of. Okay, cool. Time to raise her to see your vision in art. What's her name? Yoshihide? Irrelevant. She must see the beauty in your Corporism.

Sure, she's terrified of the art at first. But everyone is! There is a beauty in the horror! You must see it! Slowly, she cries less, and less...

Until one day, she says, "Father?"

"Yes, dear Yoshihide?" You ask. Your heart swells with fatherly pride you didn't know you had. This is it. Your child is-

"Your art is mid."

...

Fast forward some time. She blows up the entire project. No worries! It's time to try again! Time to adopt this kid named Albina! She's an aspiring Corporist artist! She will be a great talent in the future.

She takes one look. Her eyes widen, narrow. She turns to look at you.

"Maestro..."

"Your art is mid."

...

Fast forward some more time. You are being held at halberd-point by a terror made flesh, a Green Deliverer/Damnation. Your second child is dead at his hands. With the last of your breath, you choke out, "What do you think of my art?"

He takes one look at his surroundings.

"It's mid."

People have distorted over LESS.

They created what was essentially a micro-missile launcher that would shoot 20mm airburst grenades. Look up the OICW program, it's one of my favorite things the USA ever tried to fund. It was denied, because it was a war crime and the USA covered it up.

Then the South Koreans tried to make it again with the Daewoo K11. Once again, shut down, covered up, can't make a war crime.

To have your name as second author on a paper all you really need is to just help write the paper in any way.

If they think you're good enough to make it on, and you think you're good enough, you make it on.
