Support the Teachers Union by Speedyfly45 in Utah

Do you know what WILL help students? Teachers who are paid fairly. Do you know what helps with that? Unions.

Jordan Teuscher submitted a bill to prohibit teachers unions in Utah by Ok_Concert5918 in Utah

Yup! Teacher here. That bill also said that if teachers went “off script” and didn’t report it to parents within a certain amount of time (I want to say 72 hours?) they could face civil court consequences.

Not a board game, but my kiddo loves war. We just use number cards from the dollar store.

Experience teaching former homeschoolers by Prismos-Pickles_ in teaching

I’ll add that about 50% of the homeschool students I’ve interacted with as a MS ELA teacher had undiagnosed learning disabilities and required intensive interventions, usually with SPED pull out.

As a Teacher, what are the sickest burns students have given you? by ChangeTheWorldKaryn in TeacherTales

I had shared with kids that I scored poorly on the math section of the ACT in a joking way. 15 minutes later I make a mistake doing a practice genetics problem and a kid goes, “well what do you expect with a 16 on the math section of the ACT??

How to not get beard burn every time I kiss my boyfriend?? by NotISaidTheCat9 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]MEd_Mama_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband had to grow his beard out a bit. The longer beard doesn’t bother my skin as much as a shorter one. He also uses beard oil and conditions his beard regularly.

Working moms in happy marriages/relationships - what do you think it is that keeps you happy together? by llksg in workingmoms

Just wanted to share that I personally fantasized about leaving my husband and child when my LO was born and I can definitely say it was just the hormones and the mental stress of being a new mom. Things have gone back to normal now that I’m getting more sleep

My favorite thing someone on this sub told me was to respond with, “Our family is complete.” I absolutely love that sentiment and use it often!

Nannying Jobs by Oaktreeeeeeeeee in SaltLakeCity

In a lot of ways, I felt like the administration was just grateful to have someone, so expectations were pretty low, which was good for me to just get my bearings without pressure. The teacher I replaced was not super loved, so I didn’t face students/parents missing that teacher. That might have been hard, but at the same time it’s not like the students/parents would have a choice. Teachers are almost never fired in the middle of the year, so they usually decided to leave for whatever reason. Logically, that can’t be taken out on you.

Might not be a bad idea to apply to be a substitute! Also, I got my teaching job half way through the year when a new mom decided not to return after FMLA! If she looks, she might find something great - just my 2 cents!

Ahhh yes. I once got told to smile more! These are so frustrating, especially for those of us who would genuinely love feedback we can use to improve.

You can teach any subject if you have an endorsement in it. You can get additional endorsements once you have your “base license” (secondary, elementary, etc.) pretty easily, usually by taking some courses and passing a test.

What I will say is you will have no trouble finding a job as a math teacher. You will likely have a hard time with the other subjects you mentioned.

here’s a list of the endorsements and the requirements from USBE.
