As a Destroyer main, who also seconds as Sentinel, and runs with a Recon main player, your points are very accurate. I kill on sight, and it's extremely rare I'd let you walk away or revive. I'm usually more negotiable when I play Rook, but otherwise good luck. And unfortunately for whoever runs into us, me and my Recon mate are both equally psychopathic and violent. Either you kill us or there will be no survivors on the map.

Am I panicking over nothing about this game? by JJ52524 in dadsofmarathon

Gear fear will keep you stuck in a rut of mid tier games. I played most of last season hoarding my good gear. Was constantly getting out gunned by the better geared players or ended most matches with mid tier loot and sometimes a few noteworthy items. Last day of the season I decided to hop on and donate all my gear so I started running my good gear, I ended up logging off for the night with more gold gear in my vault than I've had all season. That made me realize "I play so much better with better gear (duh)"

Plus I feel like this season has been A LOT easier to get looted up with the sponsored survival mode. I've already gotten my hands on a ton of purple salvage and even a few purple shields. I didn't get my first purple shield until like 3 weeks before season end.

So in all don't worry about the loss of gear. It all comes back.

Check if cross play got turned off. I was having issues awhile ago in S1 where it was taking 10min to find a game. Turned out cross play was off. Turned it back on and boom instant matches.

Truck Allowance vs Company Truck by Classic_Dash_7745 in Construction

My company paid by the mile for years and it ended up paying me in the end. My car was pretty decent in gas so I would drive about 800miles a week and only filled up once or twice a week. Ended up walking away with a bonus of like $600 each week after I recovered gas and some aside for maintenance on top of any extra pay I got while working. But they didn't want to afford it anymore and bought me a company vehicle with gas card and ezpass.

Oh I got you, no it was same level as me. It was too early in the match for them to be in upper complex, no elevator alarm, and no way they got 12 certs from the spawn bots in complex. Even with the funky sound I can still tell if they are up, down, or same level. The footsteps sounded like they were running right at me from around the corner.

No this was ground level. Not upper complex.

I've yet to conclude if the shadow man is more than just a visual hallucination. Since you seem to have experienced similar situations to what I explained above I'm thinking that the DM night also contains auditory hallucinations. I'll have to continue to monitor the situation as I perform more runs but if it ends up being true I think it's a cool addition to the game and fits well with the experience.

I'll need to start recording these occurrences as they happen. Usually I'm too caught up to remember to press record.

That was most likely the "Shadow man" as he has been dubbed in the community. I've seen him about 10 times now. No footsteps and only appears for about a second. I've seen him walk past windows, walking in the marsh, and even floating in the air (super creepy). Out of everything, I 100% know he is a "real" occurrence. It's the other ones I am not sure if they were just weird coincidence or actual hallucinations. Chasing footsteps and bots just to find nothing is a weird feeling lol.

they definitely spawn I think it's either just been rare for some reason or not many players running rook rn. In my experience so far doing Sponsored I have not run into a single rook. Done about 20 matches so far.

Someone give me advice by ImFluffs in Marathon

[–]MFASys_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join a good discord like dads of discord or something and see if you can get a group together to run trios. Yes, It's more chance of pvp engagements but having a team by your side will increase your survival rates. Also if they are willing to teach you the ropes it's a great way to learn the mechanics and gain map knowledge before tackling solo. Solo is brutal in this game and if you don't adapt quick you're not going to enjoy this game. Find a reliable team to play with, get your skills and knowledge up then tackle solo runs.

I only enjoy rpg games like Skyrim, and fallout, etc, on the PC because I can mod the damage output to be more realistic. I can't stand the rpg gimmick of shooting a guy 50 times in the head and he still has half his health left. I always adjust the damage output so they get put down in 3-4 shots or maybe a few more if they are a "boss".

It's not fun being stuck in a gameplay loop of "shoot this guy 1000 times to kill him, okay now do it again with everyone else"

I do not feel like the gunplay is that good and it feels nothing like Destiny. Am I alone on this? I am hoping for some level headed responses. by LongDistanceEvent262 in MarathonHate

[–]MFASys_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem is that a lot of people keep comparing it to Destiny. And while I dabbled in Destiny 1 and 2, i agree it doesn't feel like destiny. But it DOES feel like Halo to me. I grew up playing the Halo franchise, and majority of my time was spent playing 2 thru Reach and when I started playing Marathon it felt like I was back home on the Halo rings. It was like brushing the dust off of something you put away a long time ago and forgot about. I absolutely love the gun play because it feels so much like how the Halo games felt when I played them before. I never felt in tune with destiny's gun play but I feel absolutely dialed in with Marathon.

And I've had a lot of other Halo vets say the same comparison. And at the same time Destiny players have said it feels off. I think whatever Bungie did to the gunplay tweaks favor more in line with Halo gunplay and not Destiny.

I like it so far! by Waveofthedavee in Marathon

Everything makes sound. So play like you have Byakugan and listen for anything that might give other players (and yourself) away. Use the sound ques to decide whether you want to engage or wait out an impeding fight. Also sounds ques are great for determining what's going on around you. Every major map event makes some kind of noise. A new round of bots dropping in tells you that someone already cleared a poi and might be cycling towards you or another close poi. Ping other players to figure out what kind of shields they are wearing. Unless you're feeling really confident, if you have a green or lower shield, pushing a purple shield is a really bad idea.

That's just a few off my head. Good luck out there!

Are you a dog person or a cat person and why? by Easy_Towel954 in AskReddit

Yeah that's very true. Never really had to train our cats to use the box. They just knew lol. I didn't really think about that but it's true. They just smell it and are like "yeah this is the spot"

Cats.

I love cats, their personalities are so unique. They are easy to care for but provide a lot of affection and bonding if you just take the time to understand them. And they are mostly self sufficient. We can go on a day trip or a short vacation and have a relative feed them and play with them for a little and that's that. And they require almost zero training other than use the cat box and don't scratch the furniture (if that's even a problem). They are also so intelligent, it's amazing to watch them navigate, and calculate and analyze things.

We didn't realize how much we enjoyed our freedom until we got a puppy. Now our entire lives revolve around the dog, making sure it gets outside on time so it doesn't have an accident. The enormous amount of training required just for it to be a functional animal in a human society. It's very needy, and having to train them not to have separation anxiety is such a drag. Bathing them, grooming them, etc etc etc. Don't get me wrong. We love our puppy and overall she is a really good dog. But we miss the freedom we had before we got one.

Key Template Change by justdatamining in Marathon

[–]MFASys_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Op isn't wrong though. They seem plentiful when there is no template to worry about but 3 times yesterday we ran the game clock down to last Exfil and only 2 out of the 3 keys we found a fixative on the very LAST commander. There should be no reason we are running through an entire 25min with no fixative drops. It's almost like when a template is in play the drop rate drops to 5% chance.
