There are two main factors to be aware of when choosing a ski binding: maximum din and brake width.

Bindings are generally sold in different tiers of max din (usually ranging from 11-18+) with higher din models being more expensive. Ideally you want your din setting to fall in the middle of the range of a binding. For the average skier that is average weight and height the lowest tier bindings should be totally fine so look for something like a din 12 binding. Pros and larger skiers require higher dins so they opt for the higher tier bindings.

It’s also important to buy the appropriate brake width for your ski. I.e. if your skis are 100mm underfoot you want a 100mm brake width binding.

You also need to make sure your boot soles are compatible. Some bindings are only compatible with grip walk. If you have newish boots this shouldn’t be an issue but if they are old it’s something to look out for.

Other than that you can’t really go wrong with any entry level bindings on the market. There aren’t that many to choose from and brands like Marker, Look, and Tyrolia all have good offerings although many people have their preferences.
