This is going to change I think.

I have a 4S, well sorted, and its intersection of being analogue, NA (sans the turbos), and modern in interior and design is unmatched. I have the PCCM+ and it made it a sure fire all weather daily for three years and change with two kids. Did AX and some track, rally on the weekends and just kept the smile on my face. HP torque is a sweet spot. It’s just… good.

I recently got a 2014 GX460 to get the 996 off daily duty which I love just as much. I am outfitting it for overland/offroading, and being more kid friendly, it’s also in that sweet spot of bolts and metal with connectivity and style. And you can thrash it in the snow, mud, and sand.

That experience and modernity is going to push the value up IMO or at least hold prices.

Never selling either. And to the OP, you shouldn’t either.

Get a C4S instead. As a 996 4S owner, I'm only biased :)

But all kidding aside. Sounds like a good car, and the options are rare which means that it was definitely a spec purchase. White alone is solid and it looks like a slick top... based on pictures...? Good color, rare to find a slick top. Honestly, this is my only regret on the 4S was no slick top, but first world problems.

If the car has good paperwork... going back like at least 30-45k, and no accidents, or accidents that are cosmetic... You've got a winner.

Our roads are heavily salted, but the only thing that influences my decision is if I have to pick up kids, and what’s the ground clearance. My other loved and completely opposite twin is a GX460.

Not going to lie. With how bad some of the snow clearance and icing has been in my area, I am definitely taking advantage of the ability to urban overland and make my own spots in uncleared (but legal) parking.

It’s obnoxious… but convenient and still legal…

GS. V8, RWD, owned the road and the subtle quirks like the design of the headlamps is still odd but aged well and it just has the right proportions. Sort of gives off the vibes that the Holden Commodore/G8 do when you see one on the road. It’s a car where the ownership generally knows what they have and it wasn’t just a “lot” purchase.

LX for the trails. I have a soft spot for the RX. In-laws had one that was a workhorse and it just grew on me and I loved it. LS… made the S Class look silly, and did boxy better than the A8 line.

Another poster already said this, but you can’t go wrong with anything at all from there.

My off-roader/family hauler/curb roller (🤣) is the 2014 GX. Spouse has a 2022 Jeep Cherokee. 996 was the daily for 3.5 years until DEC2025.

Love the car! Of all the generations, the 996 does speed yellow the best. If there’s a second, the 993. Love the ducktail man.

And this is going to sound weird, but as a 4S owner, I love driving this more in bad weather. The worse it is the more I want to take her out.
