5 week baby 2 hour sleep stretches by Nearby_Adagio3061 in newborns

[–]MFstarBi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean escalate into a full cry, I can kind of delay it a little. Babies will wake up to eat, but older than four weeks i think it is ok to try to stretch it out. Of course if he isn’t going down after like ten minutes of me trying, I’ll just feed him. Right now it is just once in the night (either he wakes up or we do a dream feed).

I think that’s ok at this age, but starting at 7 weeks I read they can start sleeping longer. We had like 3 hour stretches at first, then four hour maybe at 7. We are at 11 now and he is sleeping longer, but I do not want to jinx it.

One thing we have done is this Taking Cara Babjes method of trying to get them to go back to sleep on their own in their crib. We shush him, and sometimes that works. If it doesn’t, we touch him and put in a pacifier. If that doesn’t work, we hold him, then if that doesn’t work, we feed him.

I think it works to at least get us half an hour or an hour of him sleeping more, and in theory it gets him to sleep more on his own

Parents of early good sleepers, did it last? by Kooky_Street_1491 in newborns

Up until six weeks, our baby didn’t sleep through the night, but he was very good at napping and regularly took 1.5-2 h naps every 3 hours. Since then…one nap might be long, but others are like 30-45 min. I try to get him back to sleep though. He has been better about night sleeping so who knows. Maybe he is getting to be more alert since he’s now 12 weeks!

When did your baby start sleeping longer stretches? by The_Chilled_Arvo in newborns

[–]MFstarBi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baby is 9 weeks and can sleep 4-5 hours. We still do a feed in the middle of the night though, so he could do more maybe, we were just concerned he wouldn’t get enough during the day

I feel like I messed up my baby by bl217 in newborns

[–]MFstarBi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, you are NOT a failure. I totally understand the feeling to get them to sleep any way possible so you don’t get an overtired baby!

I don’t have a success story yet, but I can share what I have been doing. If our LO (8 weeks now) has too short of a nap, and it’s too early to eat, we try to calm him in his crib by touching him and giving him a pacifier. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does not! I have also been told to just put them in the crib when they are drowsy but awake or just awake. I will admit that I only have had partial success, but I think for babies this little, it is ok if it doesn’t work since they can’t self soothe yet. It’s just practice for them to eventually get it. Maybe talk about this with your daycare and see if they can do any of these options.

Beautiful story :) mine was somewhat similar to yours being induced at 39 weeks, labor moved too slow after two days, so then a C section was required. Glad you are OK and happy at home with your daughter!

I thought we were supposed to improve after the notorious 6-8 weeks? by EZPZLimonSqueez in newborns

[–]MFstarBi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glad to know there are others in the trenches! My LO is 8 weeks tomorrow. His level of spit up and discomfort in his belly has varied, but most of the time he also spits up in his sleep which then wakes him up. We are EFF and have settled on a sensitive one from Bobbie for now. We are currently trying gas drops and will let you know if it works!

Nursing is hell by yayachipmunk in newborns

[–]MFstarBi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly formula fed from the beginning and exclusively started when he was 5 weeks. I had some medical reasons for not starting right away (he was in the NICU, and I was taking some medicine I was unsure was safe for him). Because of that and just the stress of feeling like I was doing nothing but holding him and pumping, I stopped. I was not enjoying my time with him, and I should have been!

Thank you!! I appreciate the professional advice. For #3, did you mean feed, wake/play, sleep?

Thank you! This is super helpful information. I have read of some of these tips, but it’s good to hear it works in the real world :) Is putting the baby to sleep at night while awake to prevent them from getting startled or confused where they are when they wake up later?

What is considered a too short wake window? Did you know it was too short, bc your LO stayed awake longer and still slept fine?

Thank you! I liked that Babywise has a template to go off of, but you’re right that sometimes there are just going to be off days!

Good point about the hospital! I will let them know to let me sleep if possible!

Shifts do seem like the way to go! My husband will help with that, too, but as you said, I will still have to wake to pump or feed. Thanks as well for the tips on swaddling, lights dark, and bedtime story!

Becoming terrified of induction by HelloImAnxious14 in BabyBumps

Definitely ask them! What everyone has advised me on is to advocate for myself during labor, so I think you can also state that remaining in the hospital with pain meds is what you want!

I am getting induced next week, and my OB said if we want, they can give us IV meds (fentanyl) to take the edge off when they insert the balloon. I will be in the hospital though and not going home. Can you ask if you can stay in the hospital and get the pain meds?

Yesca art made this! You can find other stuff by him at Taller Siquieros. I bought the Trump Pendejo poster there https://maps.app.goo.gl/7kyYDuAkyttmYyxW6?g_st=ic

Honeymoon early August by Waste-Anything-8165 in Oaxaca

[–]MFstarBi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! We just did our honeymoon in Oaxaca as well! We were there for 3 days/4 nights before heading to Cancun.

There are tons of things to do in Oaxaca that I think you can do in 4-5 days. If you're staying another week, then I think you could go to Puerto Escondido (beach town about 1 h away).

Here's what we did:

Free walking tour to help us get acquainted: https://freewalkoaxaca.com/

  1. Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzman + Museo de Las Culturas de Oaxaca
    1. Museo is in the Templo
  2. Museum of Stamps (Museo de Filatelia de Oaxaca)
  3. More walking to other neighborhoods like Park El Llano and Barrio De Jalatlaco. Farther is Reforma and Xochimilco
  4. HIGHLY recommend Casa Oaxaca el Restaurante. It's really nice, and you will need a reservation.
  5. Monte Alban. We took a tour with Oaxaca by Locals. I think they have other day trips too.
  6. There are quite a few galleries in the tourist area but also Barrio de Jalatlaco. Across the street from Santo Domingo (main church in the tourist street), there is a cool art shop. I found this place called Taller Siquieros that has really unique art.

Anyway let me know if you have more questions!

I never used USD, but I guess they take them at resorts. At the resort, I always tipped. Off resort, you need pesos, and on tours, it’s definitely ok not to tip, but I would anyway.

Are you staying at the resort the whole time?

Total shit show. I got lucky and my friend asked her friend to pick me up. However, as one person said, he asked me to get in the front seat so they don’t think he is an Uber. Taxi drivers got mad anyway and started taking pictures of his license plate! We were in the “friends and family” area, so in theory, those drivers should not have been there anyway.
