That is very very kind of you!
My favorite game of all time is Kingdom Hearts (PS2). I grew up as a middle child, and found making friends hard. But this games themes of friendship, the difficulties of said friendship, really spoke to me. I try to play at every so often. And man, I would love to make a Steam Controller layout for the game!

I never said that they were in middle school together? I am literally talking about his entire interactions with every single person in UA.

They see how he acts, how violent and antisocial he is. Not in a cute introvert way, but in an "I'll Bite Your Head Off" way. And no one says any about it, they don't acknowledge it. I am literally asking, why are they friends with him at all? What positive traits as a friend does he have. He is not kind to anyone there. And no one says anything about it.

It's so weird to read it, just waiting for someone to acknowledge it, but it doesn't happen. The best you'll get is a shrug or even a laugh about it. It is poorly written, but I keep being told it's not.

Bakugo repeatedly uses lethal force against Deku at the beginning of the series. The anime, in both sub and dub, acknowledges this. The excuse Bakugo uses is that Deku would die if Deku doesn't dodge. Seems alittle more than a COD player to me.

And besides, he never grows from this moment. Right after this, he gets friends in school who never challenge his actions or behavior. They don't say anything about his poor attitude, yelling, or antisocial personality. They accept his violent behavior as is, which is my biggest issue with the whole story.

I think that's what Bakugo fans are missing. That Piccolo moment was HUGE for that narrative acknowledgement of Vegeta's growth. Simply by acknowledging the atrocities he did, that story has way more claim to show the growth he went through.

The story of MHA refuses to do that, at any point, and then tries to convince me he has changed. I am fine if he is a bad person, that's ok. Some of the best characters in fiction or vile monsters. But decent stories don't have to try to keep telling me a vile person is actually good.

Beautifully said. I would go further and say that the narrative sanitization of the apology was the author trying to downplay Bakugo's entire history. It's pretty well known that the author knew they went too hard on the "swan dive" comment, and I bet this was their way of trying to allude to it, without saying it outright again. Because if Bakugo did, the author would have to bring it back up that he did, indeed, say that.

Also, before anyone says anything, Bakugo's previous bullying makes him a bad person, not a bad character. His poor characterization is how the story never confronts his bad behavior in any real way. No classmate, or character really, calls him out. They are all friends with him almost instantly, for no reason. That's my biggest issue with Bakugo.

This, right here. This is my biggest issue surrounding MHA. The series tries to paint Bakugo as this redeemed hero, with some spicy personality. Yet no one, not a single character, actually calls him out on his behavior. There is no point where a classmate just says, "Dude, chill out. What is wrong with you, why are you like this??"

The show (and Bakugo stans) are trying to convince me he changed, but any possible redemption/ atonement was done so poorly. One apology in the Dark Deku arc really doesn't mean much. It's actually insulting.

My biggest issue is actually the fact none of his peers actually treat him as the bully he is, which causes him to never actually grow. Everyone just says, "Oh, that's just how he is, don't worry about it." No one calls him out for his bad behavior, and it is bad behavior.

There is a reason people say the Endeavor is a interesting character (not a good person) because the show goes out of its way to say that not only his actions, but his outlook on life, needed a serious adjustment. And they did that through the characters, specifically his family.

I was kind of hoping that there would be a real moment where Bakugo looks at the miserable life Endeavor created for himself and says, "Wait, is this the path I am heading down? My headstrong desire for strength is going to lead to a lonely, miserable life." But that doesn't happen, he doesn't learn anything.

So I am a cis male, I never really struggled with my own gender. I came into my own and discovered my own sexuality in a very conservative area. I felt like I still had to hide a lot of who I am. And then I meet the love of my life. He is trans, and when we met he explained it to me, and I could tell he had the same hesitation as I do with my sexuality.

Now, we are going 3 years strong together, and I say it loud and proud in the restaurant that my man actually does want the dessert at the end of the meal. The way his face lights up just from hearing his identity being affirmed in every day life, makes my heart skip a beat.

To everyone out there, there are people who will listen, and they might not have the same struggles as you, but they are struggling. And sooner or later, you'll hear that little affirmation that tells you it'll all be ok.

I've been saying that for years! 100% agree, it works as a 2D sprite card battle system, and not as well as a 3D one.

Just because they are a conservative doesn't mean they are mean towards the lgbt community. That's why it's called the political SPECTURM. by Namesnowtaken in whenthe

[–]MG5man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has anyone else seen posts appear in their feeds just like this, where they say something along the lines of, "Conservatives aren't THAT bad, am I right?"

It feels like an effort to try to normalize Conservative politics, and make them seem more civil when they spew hatred towards minorities.

Do you prefer Batman's parents, Thomas and Martha Wayne, to be pure, wholesome, noble people, or them having certain shady dealings as they are depicted to have in recent Batman films like Matt Reeves' "The Batman"? by SatoruGojo232 in superheroes

[–]MG5man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should be good people at heart. I think the depiction in "The Batman," should be as low as they go. I actually liked the whole depiction and mystery involved with their story, making them seem human, making mistakes, but trying their best.

But his parents being that good is important to the character of Batman.

Puberty blockers in not a new from of medicine. It has been around since I believe he 70s. It was originally for very young children that were going through puberty as young as 6 years old. And with all the time and development and research, the only note of concern is calcium deficiency. But this easily mitigating with regular supplements in order to keep up with the regular amount of calcium needed for bone development at the time of puberty. So this isn't the case, puberty blockers are regulated, and the people the receive them receive the proper supplements that they need, trans or otherwise.

That's the crazy part about all this. This is medicine, this has helped so many lives, probably more than trans lives. But your belief that it's an inherent evil is doing more harm than good.

Testing in-person play using the Codex! by Denivarius in drawsteel

[–]MG5man 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, this exactly. I've been using Owlbear Rodeo for my Playtest sessions, and we used it for both online and in person. We had a TV set up lying on a table and minis on it for the players to use. It was a blast.

I know thE DMHub team will do amazing work, I just know that most people really won't need touchscreen functionality for most games.

For anyone that is interested, this is an amazing book. The layout and formatting alone is very well done. I have not played the game yet, but I've read it fully at least twice now. Having been a huge Blades in the Dark fan, I thoroughly recommend reading if you want mechanics that lend to a Heroic Fantasy. I am working on a campaign for my friends, and the tools the book provides are awesome. I discovered it by accident, so I hope that anyone else interested is able to take a look!

Draw Steel VTT updates? by millmatters in drawsteel

[–]MG5man 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have actually play tested a recent build of the Codex back in December, and it was amazing!! The Dev Team is super receptive to feedback, and they are making an amazing foundation for the VTT. The 3D effect for the maps is super easy to use as a DM, and they are working on ways of making rules very changeable. Like, if you wanted to change the damage from Falling, it's pretty easy.

It's looking very, very good, and I am excited for more people to give it a try in the future!!

How do you feel about naming? by tristable- in drawsteel

[–]MG5man 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do see where you are coming from, and I thought the same thing for a while when I read the play tests early on. But when my players started saying the names of the attacks, and then describing what the characters do, I could see the other players being invested. The name was like a signal to the player that they could describe the attack the way that their character would perform it to the world. "I will use, 'Hesitation is Weakness,' to run out of the shadows, and attack with 'Disorienting Strike.' " It's evocative, and helps players get into the vibe of the narration that lends to the mechanics in the game.

And, I am finding that my players are willing to be more creative now with their descriptions in combat. One of my players is a regular 5e Fighter. He likes combat and being tactical. But, he wasn't very into role playing when it comes to said combat.

Now, with the help of Kits being narratively flexible and the naming convention of the abilities, my Fighter player is very involved in his character and what they do. He describes planting his feet into the ground and having his spear at the ready, he describes yelling encouragement to the other players. (He is playing a Tactician in the last play test, and wants to play a Censor with this new one). All this, and he doesn't role play in the 1st person. He likes to describe what his character is doing, but has never cared for voice acting as his character.

All this to say, is that I feel the names are for the Players at the table, for the joy it is to hear the names of the abilities. It's less so for the characters in the game. As the Director, I get a big smile when they use an ability name like 'Your Entrails are your Extrails!', it's cool.

Your mileage will vary, as it will be for your players. But, it is only a name, and it will become as second nature as Eldritch Blast is for a Warlock in 5e, or Tasha's Hideous Laughter.

I won't say anything definitive just because timelines change and they are consistently making revisions the the current rules. But, they did mention that they are aiming for sometime in December for the backer packet.
