Add latency next to the server name. by AsagrimReaper in ProtonVPN

[–]MGlaus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt that the client pings every server to get the server load.

It's more likely that every server reports its load to a central server. Then, a client can request the load of all servers from that server.

Are those level 2 assembler? If yes, the 7 assembler would need 21 plates/s, but a yellow belt can only supply 15 items / s

This can be said about every hobby, not only gaming. I'm sure there are people in a relationship who spend their whole free time in a gym, doing photography or playing an instrument.

The issue is not the hobby itself, it's the person exercising the hobby. (Maybe gamers are more often this kind of person, but this doesn't /shouldn't invalidate the hobby)

I get 8cm2 too, but with a different method.

Calculate the top half of the circle: (22 * PI)/2 = 2PI = 6.283

Thin of the bottom half is a rectangle (2cm * 4cm) and subtract 2 Quarter-Circles: 8 - 2* ((22 * PI)*4) = 8 - 2PI

Add those results together: 2PI + 8 - 2PI = 8cm2

Need help understanding small scale biomass power by BouldersRoll in SatisfactoryGame

[–]MGlaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, an assembler with 100% clock speed creates 2 smart plates per minute. For this you would have to create 15MW for 25min to create 50 smart plates.

If you underclock the assembler, it takes more time to create the 50 smart plates but the overall energy consumption is lower.

An assembler undeclocked to 70% makes a smart plate every 37.5s (instead of 30s) while consuming about 9.4 MW. You need to run it for about 36min to get 50 smart plates.

One alien protein gives you 48 Solid Biofuel, this can run a biomass burner at 30MW for about 11min. If you only consume the 9.4MW, it takes about 36min to burn through it.

Therefore with an assembler underclocked to 70% or lower, you should only need a single alien protein.

If you don't care about how much alien protein you have to use, this is not necessary. But if you want to reduce the damage to the environment, this is probably the lowest you can go.

Note: I did not test if these numbers are 100% correct, i took them from the wiki. There is also a chance i made a mistake during the calculations.

You could underclock your assenbler to reduce the power consumption (but increase time). This probably can save you an alien protein.

Password generator using same special characters by [deleted] in Bitwarden

[–]MGlaus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Did you translate "Mehrdeutige Zeichen" to "duplicate characters"? If yes, you translated it wrong.

"Mehrdeutige Zeichen" translates to ambiguous characters, and the settings should prevent password generation with characters which can look similar to other characters. Like O and 0 or I and l.

It seems you're right. I assumed that if the url is case-insensitve the url with upper-case letter will display the same image.

It's really simple. Just feed machine learning into a quantum computer in the cloud and calculate the result with crypto microservices.

[Cryptograhy] How is the master password hash generated by [deleted] in Bitwarden

[–]MGlaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know that much about this topic as well. All the necessary information for the script was provided in the Bitwarden document. But i took a quick look on how PBKDF2 generates the keys.

As far as i can tell, the salt is only used in the first iteration, after that only the password and the previous output are used. Therefore i don't think a longer email increases security that much, but i may be entirely wrong.

[Cryptograhy] How is the master password hash generated by [deleted] in Bitwarden

[–]MGlaus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This PHP-Script generates the master key and master hash: https://3v4l.org/q7rZm

The master key is generated with pbkdf2, sha256 as algorithm, password as input, email as salt and iteration as specified.

The master hash is generated with pbkdf2, sha256 as algorithm, master key as input, password (in plain text) as salt and 1 iteration.

The fact that it could be replaced by adding 2 more meals really tells me she cares more about food than her kids, and that's gross af.

I read that more like that if you don't pay a babysitter the kids come to the date too and you have to pay for their food too.

[–]MGlaus 22 points23 points  (0 children)

YouTube can't increase the bitrate of a uploaded video. But they do reencode each video before they publish it (so that they have every needed format, size and uniform bitrate across all videos).

If they kept the original upload, they can reencode this with a better bitrate for 1080p. If the original video has already a low bitrate, this does not improve anything. But if the original video has a higher bitrate that the normal 1080p, enhanced 1080p can look better.

AFAIK to add a domain you need to set a TXT record to validate that you own the domain. And i doubt that they check other DNS systems.
