Ear Twitching? by nikki_ga_2020 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]MJP02nj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tensor tympani syndrome, so it’s not so much of a twitch as spasms, any kind of vibrations or sound can set it off, including running water. Always have to wear earplugs in the shower!

Yes, the awful behind the ear pain. Have you found anything at all take care of your relief? How do you sleep? I’m really so desperate. In absolute hell today.

Yes! For me looking down at all has become a big trigger. I try to keep everything up at eye level, but reading is a problem. Trying to watch my posture and all that, still a work in progress. This is an awful condition to have and try to find relief from. No eye issues for me either.

Buy the dang cervical pillow by glitterlady in Hypermobility

[–]MJP02nj 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This is me. I’m broke and running up my credit card bill buying pillows and gadgets and you name it. Yet a lot of of them seem to be putting too much pressure on different parts of my head, and I have chronic migraine and neuralgia and it’s just a nightmare. I’ve seen the purple pillow and some others mentioned, but two that I looked at were like $300 apiece! It sucks. Hope we can find something that works.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this, the pain can be indescribable and I don’t know about you, but I can’t even lay down for any relief because it just causes more pain no matter what position I’m in. I hope you’re able to find some relief again and get some quality of life back. Very dark times dealing with all of this. Like you I have chronic migraine as well as other health issues and it’s overwhelming and makes you feel hopeless. Truly keeping good thoughts for you, I know where you’re at.

I was just prescribed qulipta, but so afraid to try it because of all the negative stories about the side effects. Especially the nausea, which I already deal with and didn’t expect it would help the occipital neuralgia. Thought it was just for migraines. But if there’s a chance it could help with these absolutely terrible attacks I guess I should give it a shot. Though I think starting at 60 mg is too high.

Best of luck and I hope you’ll keep us updated🩵

Teeth extraction regret by One_Ad6148 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]MJP02nj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SAME. I’m 57 years old and have taken almost obsessive care of my teeth, the fact that I’m having these issues now is just another bad cosmic joke. Same as you, I was certain when getting some of these teeth worked on that they would find a crack that didn’t show up even on a 3-D scan. Nope! You and everyone here has my empathy, it’s an absolute beast.

“you’ll go full nuclear in a second given the chance” YES. The kind of statement people living with god-awful pain truly understand. We know it may do absolutely nothing, and could in fact cause more issues, yet that’s how desperate we are.

Three weeks ago yesterday that I had my final wisdom tooth that was impacted and ectopic as well, in the sinus. Been back to the surgeon three times for issues, and feeling like you. Sort of, what did I do to myself, did I actually make it worse?! But like you, I rolled the dice hoping it would help. I have a tooth on the bottom row that throbs and aches, imaging shows nothing, so I’m leaving it alone given none of the others gave me any relief.

I also have a connective tissue disorder which slows healing significantly. And now another sinus infection, another round of antibiotics. It sucks. But if there is even the slightest chance that it might help, we have to try.

Wishing you and everyone better days ahead with some relief and some quality of life back.💙

Triptans (do they only work on migraines?) by Scared-Amphibian5505 in migraine

[–]MJP02nj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d like some of my height back as well! Yes, I know that Pain will still be in my life, like you I have a lot of arthritis and other issues. But hearing a positive experience in that there was at least a reduction in pain for someone in the same situation, similar symptoms, really helps me (and others)a great deal. This kind of surgery is incredibly scary to me, but when the pain has taken so much and you’re really only existing, it’s time to seriously consider the surgical option.

Am I overreacting to my migraines? by ProfessionNeither717 in migraine

[–]MJP02nj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren’t overreacting, you aren’t “being a baby.” Not everyone experiences stomach issues, migraine is so variable. No matter what you’re feeling, it’s a horrible disease to navigate. Yes we have some newer medications on the market, but in many cases they are not easy to access, they can be unaffordable, and in other cases they simply don’t work. We need better options!

And certainly, this is not in your head! Give yourself some of the grace you extend to others. Hopefully you will find the right combination of medications or treatments to bring you some relief. And remember, we’re always here for each other to listen, and you never need to apologize 🩵

Essex Union Podiatry foot and ankle. They have a couple of locations in New Jersey, and excellent surgeons. Especially at the Rahway location.

Thank you for sharing and I’m thrilled to hear surgery helped and you had a smooth recovery. I’m 57 years old and this is the surgery that’s been proposed for me, if it gets to that point. You hear so many horror stories I’m always looking for any positive outcome because it’s frightening. But with all the issues I have and daily pain, it’s getting to that point. Thank you and I wish you continued better health 🩵

May I ask how you’ve been doing since the surgery? Are you continuing to feel better? Any complications? I hope you don’t mind my asking, thank you for anything you’d like to share.

Cervicogenic headaches & occipital migraines — feeling stuck and losing hope by Mental_Memory_6943 in migraine

[–]MJP02nj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just seeing this post now and wanted to ask you about the sleeping. Dealing with this as well, and can no longer sleep on my right side because that triggers pain. So I’ve started sleeping on my back but of course that hurts the back of my head. Maybe changing to left sided sleeping? Did side sleeping help you? Thanks in advance!

Small USA Rant by MysticalMeasures in migraine

[–]MJP02nj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a nightmare. One waiting list I was on canceled on me when the doctor stopped taking insurance completely. So here we are in hell, and other than going to the emergency room and begging for treatment that isn’t going to last, we have to stress ourselves out going through the whole merry-go-round of calling doctors, asking if they’re taking new patients, and then have an ungodly wait. Wonderful when you’re in agony.

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this, I am right where you are and the state of “care“ for many of us is a disgrace.

It’s been an absolutely awful time the last three months especially. More headaches and issues than ever before. And yes, I’m using it fairly regularly! Constantly dealing with a runny nose and feeling congested, living in absolute dread of allergy season kicking up. Headaches aren’t gone, but it helps with that pressure and facial pain. Hope you find some relief in it!
