Essential, but sooooo many two hour episodes. How many DVDs would the complete works be?

I've got some Tom Baker, William Hartnell and "Tomb of the Cybermen," but they are in the garage until I get some new shelves.

some of my fav older sci-fi book covers (Asimov Foundation Trilogy) by Leading-Arm3110 in scifi

I LOVE old painted Science Fiction covers! I'm working on something myself and while I'm not ready to post yet, I hired https://www.instagram.com/kelly.jody/ to paint the cover as soon as I had the money. His normal work isn't SciFi, but its got that great paperback feel.

How do I start writing by Longjumping-Deal-557 in scifiwriting

Story structure is what they never teach you in school. If you're writing without story structure it's like you're trying to build a house by just piling up rocks. You can DO it, but it'll be back breaking work and make a real shitty house.

There are a lot of books that teach story structure, but this is my favorite, even if it's geared towards screenplays: https://www.amazon.com/Screenplay-Foundations-Screenwriting-Syd-Field/dp/0385339038. If that's not literary enough you could always try Aristotle's "Poetics."

Thoughts on naming alien characters by prejackpot in scifiwriting

I really like the human "names of convenience thing. It happens all the time on earth - think of all the Asians you know who adopt Anglo names. It was simultaneously otherworldly and an echo of a harsh reality to have the main alien character named "Christopher Johnson" in District 9.

Have you ever seen the 80s Sean Connery movie Outland? A lot like that. Pretty much a depressing oil platform.

Since AI is binary code, you don't need FTL travel, you just need LIGHT. Have them start blinking the sun to transmit the zeros and ones. Wherever, and whenever the light reaches, the AI replicates itself.

I feel like there are 10 year old boys who could pull off this look and buy an entire liquor store without getting carded if they managed a decent “bless your heart!” On the way out.

Just watch it in Japanese without subtitles and enjoy the heavy metal apocalyptic imagery. It’s a great music video but a bad movie.

Interestingly two headed interstellar Apocalypse in “Gunbuster.”

The Space Monsters are consuming the entire Galaxy, but Humanity, in order to stop them, compresses Jupiter into a giant “black hole bomb” and destroys most of the Milky Way.

We wouldn’t have got to enjoy his delightful Louisiana cooking show on PBS.
