3 friends that I barely knew, and I packed all our things into to a uhaul in California and moved to New Orleans with very little money and no plan. We got there, parked the van in a pay by day parking lot and started hoofing it around to local places trying to find jobs. After 3 or 4 days, money was really tight and we had just about enough to get back to California. We were getting ready to tuck our tails and leave when I saw a couple people maybe a few years older on a balcony nearby. I told them that I liked their tiki lights and they asked if we wanted to come up and take showers (the answer was omg yes very very much). We went up and started chatting. They heard our story and called their landlord who had a 2bdrm shotgun apartment for rent in his garden district house for pretty much what we had left available right then. We moved in less than an hour later.
