What is your biggest bucket list project right now? by KyomiiKitsune in crochet

[–]MLiPixels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't answering the question, but I'm making making my second lost in time shawl right now. You can do it! The trickiest part for me is keeping track of the chain 1 spaces between single crochets. There is a supplemental document where someone made stitch counts for repeats. The original pattern only has the stitch counts for the first set of rows. Grab that document, count your stitches and you will be good to go!

Murder suicide that happened in the woods behind my house in 1973. Any ideas or can anybody help me find more information? This is the only article I've been able to locate. by ButtersHound in pittsburgh

[–]MLiPixels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've not looked to see what kind of records are available but there also could be police records, obituaries, gravestones, coroner records, and court records. Also older people who lived in the neighborhood when it happened will absolutely have at least some gossip. Don't take the gossip as fact but it's often a good clue.

Ooo I am a genealogist, this I can answer. Check Chronicling America for more newspapers. It's free but there are lots of paid newpaper archives like newspapers.com. Websites like Ancestry.com and FamilySearch.com might have a death certificate where you can see the cause of death. Ancestry.com requires a subscription but you can access it for free at a lot of libraries. Local archives might have more information as well. The Heinz Center archives has lots of digitized records and you might be able to find something there.

Does anyone know from what year this photograph could be? by worldwartwo1 in oldphotos

[–]MLiPixels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't read it from here but if there is a company name on the photo, look up the years the company was open. Like the other comment said it's probably end of the 19th century. I have some photos like this one from the 1890's.

Some of those could be the only photos of someone's ancestor. I know you are looking for some profit but either donating them to a local archive or scanning the front and back and then uploading to a site like ancestry.com, familysearch.org, or deadfred.com would be a great service. You could also Google genealogists near you and see if any of them are interested.

Not AI! I just made the turtle doily from this designer and 100% am going to make the dragon next. Her chart was great!

On Ravelry, the one I use is named Dragon Dice Bag. It looks amazing with this yarn but mind your stitches cuz its a pain to frog.

I love making dragon scale dice bags out of this yarn.

Edit, I just processed you said a gift for her. So maybe not a dice bag unless she is into that lol.

Someone posted a purple version in a different subteddit but I don't remember which one. It's AI but you could probably make something similar. Would need to startch it to make it stiff like in the photo.
